Ques. Is this diploma open to students without any prior fashion or design background?
Ans. Yes, the Diploma in Fashion Technology at MANUU is open to students who have passed Class 10, regardless of their prior background in fashion or design. No prior knowledge of fashion design is required. The programme is designed to introduce students to the field from the basics. The only mandatory requirement is that the candidate must have Urdu as a subject or medium of instruction at the 10th level. Admission is purely merit-based on Class 10 marks.
Ques. What career options are available after completing this diploma?
Ans. After completing the Diploma in Fashion Technology from MANUU, students can work as fashion design assistants, garment technicians, pattern makers, or textile merchandisers in the apparel and fashion industry. They can also pursue the BSc Fashion Technology (Undergraduate Programme with Exit Scheme) at MANUU itself, which allows them to continue their education in the same field. Additionally, students can apply for short-term skill development courses under NSDC (National Skill Development Corporation) to enhance their employability. The fashion and textile industry in India, particularly in cities like Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Surat, offers significant employment opportunities for diploma holders.
Ques. Is the Diploma in Fashion Technology at MANUU the same as the BSc Fashion Technology?
Ans. No, these are two different programmes. The Diploma in Fashion Technology is a 1-year programme open to students after Class 10, with a seat intake of 40. The BSc Fashion Technology (Undergraduate Programme with Exit Scheme) is a 3-year degree programme open to students after Class 12 (10+2), with a larger seat intake. The diploma is a shorter, more vocational qualification, while the BSc is a full undergraduate degree. Students who complete the diploma may be eligible to seek lateral entry into the BSc programme, subject to MANUU's rules.

Ans. Yes, Urdu as a subject, language, or medium of instruction at the Class 10 level is a mandatory eligibility requirement for all programmes at MANUU, including the Diploma in Fashion Technology. This is because MANUU is India's only central university with Urdu as the primary medium of instruction. The programme is taught entirely in Urdu. Students from Urdu-medium schools or recognised Madrasa boards are eligible. Students who have not studied Urdu at any level are not eligible for this programme.
