Ques. Is Urdu knowledge compulsory for admission to this diploma at MANUU?
Ans. Yes, Urdu as a subject, language, or medium of instruction at the Class 10 level is a mandatory eligibility requirement for all polytechnic diploma programmes at MANUU. This is because MANUU is India's only central university with Urdu as the primary medium of instruction. Students from Urdu-medium schools, Madrasa boards (recognised by MANUU), or those who have studied Urdu as a subject in their 10th standard are eligible. Students without any Urdu background are not eligible for this programme.
Ques. Can I pursue B.Tech after completing this diploma from MANUU?
Ans. Yes, diploma holders in Electronics and Communication Engineering can pursue B.Tech through the Lateral Entry route. MANUU itself offers B.Tech (Lateral Entry) in Computer Science and Engineering, allowing diploma holders to join directly in the 2nd year (3rd semester) of the B.Tech programme. Additionally, students can apply for lateral entry B.Tech in Electronics & Communication Engineering at other AICTE-approved institutions across India. This makes the diploma a strong stepping stone for those who wish to eventually obtain a full engineering degree.
Ques. Are girls exempt from paying tuition fees for this diploma at MANUU?
Ans. Yes, female students are fully exempt from tuition fees for all polytechnic diploma programmes at MANUU, including the Diploma in Electronics and Communication Engineering. They are only required to pay the mandatory medical insurance fee (Rs. ₹1,600 per semester at the Hyderabad campus) and nominal other charges. The total academic cost for female students over 3 years is approximately Rs. ₹6,425, making this one of the most affordable technical education options for women in India. This fee waiver is a deliberate policy to encourage female enrolment in technical programmes.
Ques. Is this diploma offered at other MANUU campuses besides Hyderabad?
Ans. Yes, the Diploma in Electronics and Communication Engineering is offered at multiple MANUU polytechnic centres across India, including Bengaluru (Karnataka), Darbhanga (Bihar), Kadapa (Andhra Pradesh), and Cuttack (Odisha), in addition to the main Hyderabad campus. Each centre has a seat intake of 60. Students can choose their preferred centre at the time of application. The admission process, fee structure, and curriculum are the same across all centres, though the medium of instruction remains Urdu at all locations.
