MANUU B.Sc FAQs
Ques. Is B.Sc. Chemistry at MANUU now a 3-year or 4-year programme, and what is the difference?
Ans. From the academic year 2022-23, MANUU has adopted the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 framework and offers B.Sc. as a 4-Year Undergraduate (4YUG) programme with Hons/Research options. Under this framework, students can exit after 3 years with a B.Sc. degree, or continue for the 4th year to earn a B.Sc. (Hons) or B.Sc. (Research) degree. The Chemistry component is part of the B.Sc. Physical Sciences stream. Students who exit after 3 years receive a regular B.Sc. degree, while those completing 4 years receive the Honours/Research degree, which is more valuable for higher studies and research careers.
Ques. Is CUET-UG mandatory for B.Sc. Chemistry admission at MANUU, and what subjects should I choose?
Ans. Yes, CUET-UG is mandatory for admission to B.Sc. (Physical Sciences) at MANUU from 2022-23 onwards. Candidates must register for CUET-UG and select MANUU as a participating university. For B.Sc. Physical Sciences (which includes Chemistry), candidates should choose Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as their domain subjects in CUET-UG. The eligibility requires that candidates have studied Maths, Physics, and Chemistry at the 10+2 level with a minimum of 40% aggregate marks.
Ques. What is the medium of instruction for B.Sc. Chemistry at MANUU - is it Urdu or English?
Ans. MANUU is a bilingual university where both Urdu and English are used as mediums of instruction. For science subjects like Chemistry, the primary medium of instruction is English, as most scientific literature, textbooks, and laboratory manuals are in English. However, MANUU makes a special effort to explain concepts in Urdu as well, making it accessible to students from Urdu-medium school backgrounds. Students can write their examination answers in either Urdu or English.
Ques. What career options are available after B.Sc. Chemistry from MANUU?
Ans. After completing B.Sc. Chemistry from MANUU, graduates can pursue M.Sc. Chemistry (available at MANUU itself), appear for competitive exams like CSIR-NET, GATE (Chemistry), and IIT JAM for higher studies. Career options include roles in pharmaceutical companies, chemical industries, quality control laboratories, research institutions, and teaching. Graduates can also appear for government jobs through UPSC, SSC, and state PSC examinations. MANUU's central university status ensures that the degree is recognized across India for employment and higher education purposes.
Ques. Does MANUU provide laboratory facilities for B.Sc. Chemistry students?
Ans. Yes, MANUU's Chemistry Section is equipped with well-maintained laboratories for undergraduate students. The labs support practical training in Physical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, and Analytical Chemistry. The department has been actively expanding its research capabilities and infrastructure. Students are required to complete mandatory practical sessions as part of the curriculum, and laboratory performance is assessed separately in the semester examinations.
Ques. Can I get hostel accommodation as a B.Sc. Chemistry student at MANUU, and what are the charges?
Ans. MANUU has separate Boys and Girls hostels on the Hyderabad campus. Hostel accommodation for B.Sc. students is subject to availability and is not guaranteed. The annual hostel fee ranges from Rs. 4,200 to Rs. 5,000, and mess charges are approximately Rs. 1,800 to Rs. 2,000 per month. Students should apply for hostel accommodation at the time of admission. Given the limited hostel capacity, early application is advisable. Students who do not get hostel accommodation typically arrange private accommodation near the MANUU campus in Gachibowli/Hyderabad.
