Academic Qualification

• A-levels:
  • Typical Offer: AAB, including at least one science subject.
  • Contextual Offer: ABB, including at least one science subject.
  • Refugee/Care-experienced Offer: BBB/ABC, including at least one science subject.
• Science Subjects Considered: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Geology, Environmental Science, and Geography.
• Geography as the Only Science Subject: If Geography is the only science subject, an A in Geography is required, and applicants may need to attend an interview to assess suitability.
• International Baccalaureate (IB):
  • Typical Offer: 35 points overall with 6,6,5 at Higher Level, including at least one science subject.
  • Acceptable Mathematics:
    • Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches. OR
    • Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation.
• GCSE/IGCSE:
  • English Language: Grade 4/C or higher.
  • Mathematics: Grade 6/B or higher.
  • Additional Requirements: Applicants must demonstrate a broad general education, typically a minimum of five GCSEs/IGCSEs, including acceptable levels of literacy and numeracy.
• Other Qualifications
  • Access to HE Diploma: A minimum of 60 credits overall with at least 45 at Level 3, with distinction in a subject area relevant to the chosen course.
  • Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma: Grades DDD, including distinctions in all mandatory science units.
  • Cambridge Pre-U: D3, D3, M1 in Principal subjects, including at least one science subject.

Pre-Sessional English Course

Applicants who don't meet the English language requirements may take a pre-sessional English course at Manchester. Minimum IELTS scores:

• 6-week course: 6.5 overall, 6.5 in writing, one sub-score allowed at 6.0

• 10-week course: 6.0 overall, 6.0 in all sub-skills

• IELTS for UKVI (Academic) is required for visa purposes.

• CBSE or CISCE National Boards:
  • Overall Average: 80%.
  • Science Subject: No less than 80% in at least one science subject.
  • English: 80%.
• West Bengal State Board:
  • Overall Average: 75%.
  • Science Subject: No less than 75% in at least one science subject.
  • English: 80%.
• Gujarat, Karnataka, Maharashtra, or Tamil Nadu State Boards:
  • Overall Average: 85%.
  • Science Subject: No less than 85% in at least one science subject.
  • English: 85%

English Language Requirement
