Academic Qualification

  • Standard Entry: An upper second-class 2:1 (equivalent to GPA of 3.3 to 3.7 on a scale of 4.0) honours degree or international equivalent in a discipline directly relevant to the PhD
  • Alternative Entry: Any upper second-class 2:1 (equivalent to GPA of 3.3 to 3.7 on a scale of 4.0) honours degree or international equivalent plus a Master’s degree at merit level in a discipline directly relevant to the PhD.
  • Other Considerations: Combinations of qualifications and relevant research or work experience may also be considered.
  • Interview Process: An interview is a mandatory part of the selection process. This is typically conducted via phone or video call and assesses:

Pre-Sessional English Course

Applicants who don't meet the English language requirements may take a pre-sessional English course at Manchester. Minimum IELTS scores:
