  • The Economic and Social Policy programme at Birkbeck, University of London responds to recent concerns from students and employers that standard economics programmes often contain narrow and uncritical content. By contrast, this programme will prepare students for jobs in the private or public sector that require clear and concise interpretations of policy issues and an understanding of the interface between economic, social, political and geographical change.
  • College students build successful careers with a variety of employers in a range of sectors, including the Government Economic Service, the Treasury, the Bank of England, commercial banks, local government, social services and teaching.
  • The first two years will provide students with core interdisciplinary skills and a broad understanding of policy and context. In subsequent years, students can choose greater specialisation in economics or other disciplines as students wish.
