Academic Qualification

• A-Level: BBC with 1 subject from Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Technology & Design (CCEA), Science, or Engineering.
• Alternative A-Level Option: BBC with 2 subjects from Accounting, Business, ICT, Economics, Psychology, etc.
• Grade Reduction: Applicants with A-Level Mathematics, Further Mathematics, or Physics may receive a 2-grade reduction.
• GCSE Requirements:
  • Minimum Grade C/4 in Mathematics.
  • Merit in Engineering Principles and Calculus is required if only Grade C/4 in GCSE Math.
• BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (RQF): DDM profile in one of the following:
  • Engineering (601/7588/6).
  • Manufacturing Engineering (601/7589/8).
  • Mechanical Engineering (601/7590/4).
  • Electrical and Electronic Engineering (601/7587/4).
• Smaller BTEC/OCR Qualifications: Accepted when combined with A Levels or other Level 3 qualifications.
• OCR/Cambridge Technicals: Accepted only with A-Level in specified subjects (Refer A Level Subjects).
• Irish Leaving Certificate:
  • 112 UCAS points with 5 subjects (4 at Higher Level).
  • English: H6 at Higher or O4 at Ordinary Level.
  • Mathematics: H5 at Higher or O3 at Ordinary Level.
  • Higher Level must include 2 subjects from Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Technology, Computing, Biology, or Engineering.
• Scottish Highers: BBCCC, with BB in Mathematics and a science subject.
• Scottish Advanced Highers: CCD, with Mathematics and a science subject.
• International Baccalaureate: 25 points, 12 at Higher Level, with grade 5 in Mathematics and another science subject.
• Access to Higher Education (HE):
  • 63% overall and 63% in NICATS Mathematics module or equivalent.
  • GB Access Course: 15 credits at distinction and 30 at merit, with GCSE Math C/4.
• GCSE:
  • English Language: Minimum Grade C/4 or equivalent.
  • Mathematics: Minimum Grade B/6 or equivalent.
  • Alternative English Qualification: Level 2 Certificate in Essential Skills - Communication accepted.
  • Mathematics Alternative: Level 2 Certificate in Essential Skills - Application of Number NOT accepted.
  • Additional Science Requirement: BB or above in GCSE Double Award Science or BB in two from Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Technology, Manufacturing, Engineering, Additional Mathematics, or Statistics.
• HNC: Distinction in relevant Engineering + GCSE Maths C. Year 1 entry only.
• HND: Merit in relevant Engineering + Merit in Analytical Methods + GCSE Maths C. Possible Year 2 entry.

• Ulster Foundation Degree: 50% overall + 50% in Level 5 and Level 4 Maths. Possible Year 2 entry.

NOTE: 

• BBC: B, B, C in three A-Level subjects.
• CCD: C, C, D in three A-Level subjects.
• BBCCC: Two B’s and three C’s in five Scottish Higher subjects.
• DDM: Distinction, Distinction, Merit in BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma.

• Indian Standard XII (All Boards): Overall 60% with 60% or above in 5 subjects.
• 3-Year Diploma: Diploma in Engineering or Technology with overall 60%.

English Language Requirement

• IELTS (Academic): Overall 6.0, with 5.5 in each section.
• PTE Academic: 55, with a minimum of 51 in each part.
• TOEFL iBT: 80, with minimum section scores: Listening: 17, Reading: 18, Speaking: 20, Writing: 17.
• LanguageCert International ESOL: Overall 65 with no element below 60.
• Cambridge Advanced English: 169 overall, with no less than 162 in each element.
• Cambridge English Business Higher: Grade C with all parts 'weak' or higher.
• Cambridge B2 First: 169 overall, with no less than 162 in each element.
• Cambridge Proficiency in English: 176 overall, with no less than 162 in each element.
• Oxford Test of English (OTE): 126 overall with no contributing module score below 111.
• Skills for English: SELT: B2 Pass.

• Occupational English Test (OET): C+.
