Course Curriculum

8

  • The course curriculum was interesting and engaging- updated with the recent changes and new things happening around.
  • I was given research experiences.
  • PhD involves limited classes, maybe twice a week or so. There are more seminars, though.

Admission Experience

  • PhD admission + funding. I was on a full scholarship. The admission process was smooth once the funding was achieved. The research admin staff was quite supportive.

Faculty

8

  • PhD students get 2 supervisors each. We met once a month with a particular agenda. My experience with them was good- one was a bit unresponsive, though. But people had diverse experiences- both good, avg and bad- depending on their relationship with them.

Campus Life

8

  • Everything was above average.
  • There were clubs for specific regional students as well.
  • The arts and aesthetic club was also popular
  • The library is excellent.
  • The sports room was average- didn't participate much.

Part Time Jobs

  • Part-time options are good, but again very limited too, and not well paid

Placement

6

  • In phd, we usually have to find career options on our own. But the job market in the UK is very competitive and uncertain. It takes around 6 months to 1 year to find a full-time job.

Accommodation

Off Campus
8

  • Accommodation was good- close to the uni but expensive. My rental was £650 per month in 2019. Things might have changed/updated now.

Exams

  • IELTS, PhD research proposal, cover letter, Letter of recommendation, at least 2
  • IELTS: 7 was required. A PhD admin requires other qualifications, such as research work, matching interests with the professor, and some publications.

Fees

  • £22000 per year for me in 2019. But I was on full funded scholarship.
