What Students Say
Likes
- The academics and faculty are amazing and super helpful.
- The campus is very green and beautiful.
- There are plenty of Restaurants and a club on campus.
Dislikes
- The accommodation is very expensive in comparison to other universities.
Course Curriculum
- The Course is accredited by IOP. Recent changes have been brought onto the course structure to make it better with having 6 modules rather than 8 and clubbing the lab modules into one. Having 3 terms with exams at the end of each term. Research opportunities and Internships are provided after going through a selection process. there are typically 2-3 hour classes with labs and 2-3 hour labs for 4 days in a week.
- Labs happen 1-2 times a week. 15-20 hours of classes each week. expected to self-study and finish assignments at your own pace throughout the week.
Admission Experience
- The thing I love about this university is how helpful the academics are. The reason I chose this particular university for my program was that they had recently received 10 million dollars in funding for the department at the time of joining.
- Another reason I chose the university was its close proximity to London, only a 50 minute train ride to London St. Pancras. Another Alternative and cheaper option is the national express bus from the campus, which drops off at London Victoria station in just under 2 hours.
Faculty
- I am not sure of the faculty-to-student ratio. There are anywhere from 15 to 100 students, depending on the module. The professors are very approachable and try to actively encourage discussions on their topics.
Campus Life
- Amazing. Campus life with one nightclub on campus, which is also used to host events. there are a variety of clubs for students to join. There is a huge library with plenty of free and communal spaces on campus. Along with the library, there are multiple areas within each college to study and hang out. there are huge sports facilities on campus, including football, cricket nets, tennis courts, squash courts, hockey, basketball, etc. Equipment is provided by the facilities. Any sporting abilities are invited to join teams and clubs.
Part Time Jobs
- It is fairly easy to secure a part-time job on campus, as there are many restaurants to work for oncampus. the UK govt only allows a maximum of 20 hours to work per week. The students can talk to the student union, which helps in landing them a part-time job.
Placement
- The UK doesn't typically have campus recruitment; however, Universities host career fairs and have a dedicated careers and employment team to aid in getting a job. I have talked to career counselors several times.
- Students will typically have to attend networking events and apply to jobs online. the average graduate salary depends on the sector, but typically, 25000-35000 pounds is the starting salary.
Accommodation
- My accommodation was always provided by university but it was very expensive. Depending on the accommodation, it can range from 150 to 225 GBP a week.
Exams
- Not Applicable to Indian scores. However, a typical offer is BBB for A Levels in the UK.
Fees
- 22000 gbp per year plus accommodation costs.
