Colleges Where I Was Accepted

Reason for choosing my college

The teaching standard is gold-rated. The university is located in a nice place (Canterbury). The campus is also really nice while also being near London and Heathrow Airport, making it my first choice.

Colleges Where I Was Rejected

Reason for Rejection

I couldn't meet the required grades through normal means and was asked to apply through clearing, but the university's slow response made it difficult as the course was about to start, and getting a visa would've taken a lot longer with their slow response rate.

Tips to enhance your application

Predicted grades, well written SOP and LOR. Include all your skills and ambitions on the SOP but be honest. Bank statement is also needed to prove your eligibility.

Admission Experience

  • I selected the UK because of its highly regarded education system known for academic excellence.
  • The UK has universities that are consistently ranked higher and the universities here have courses tailored to my needs.
  • I also wanted to explore Europe so having the UK as a great university and a prime location for tourism made it my top choice.

Class Schedule

8

  • There were at most 12 classes per week; the timing depends on each course and modules chosen, but the university operated for classes from 9 am-6 pm.
  • Each lecture had almost 150 to 200 students but the seminar classes only had 10 to 20 students at max, my course had around 15 Indian students.
  • 9 to 10 hrs went into assignments per week.

Faculty

10

  • One faculty member catered to 20 Students, and faculty members were available through their email, phone, or directly in their office,
  • Ms Yang was the best faculty for me as the way she approached students politely stood out to me.
  • The faculty member usually helps you prepare for interviews, CV writing, and other important things to get a job.

Campus Life

10

  • 2 campuses are there in the UK.
  • Facilities available are library 24/7, sports club open till 10 pm, medical which is also available 24/7.
  • I was on the Canterbury campus, there are always some feasts but the biggest one is called summer ball at the end of the academic year.
  • The university also has its club called "Venue" which has clubbing events going on throughout the week.
  • For extracurricular activities, there are numerous societies that students can join, either a sports society or religious or regional. There are many options.

Part Time Jobs

Most Indians work part-time in a restaurant, and their pay is normal, which is £11/hour. In the UK, it is easy to get a part-time job, you either walk into the store with your CV in hand or apply online through their website

Quiet: a lot of students get part-time jobs, and pay is usually £11/hour, there are part-time jobs available on campus and off campus as well. On-campus jobs can be applied to from the University's website. The maximum a student can work is 20 hours per week.

Placement

8

Usually, students get a job easily if they have hands-on experience in the real world and the average salary is £21000/annum. Students can find jobs through career fairs held at university. Lowest salary offer would be £18000 and highest £30000

Accommodation

Off Campus
10

  • I was living on campus, so the selection of accommodation was made through the University's accommodation website out of the many options available, selecting the one that was at a prime location was tough, but for the first-year students, we get confirmed places on campus, while for others it is a first come first serve system for the university.
  • Accommodations off campus are available to browse through a website like amber students. As my application for the accommodation went smoothly, getting a place was easier than expected.
