Course Curriculum

8

  • The difficulty level is high. It was a mix of both. However, it is extremely important that a student is very well versed with the subject for them to get a decent marks in the subject.
  • As mentioned before, the negative aspect is, the course is not a cake walk. However, this also makes sure, that the students pursuing the course is very well prepared. Everything is conceptual.

Admission Experience

  • Received rejection from Imperial College. Accepted in Birmingham university and University of Bristol.
  • I was rejected in ICL because of my grades during my undergraduate degree. While they were good enough, the university required more.
  • Apart from this I applied to Coventry University and Stirling as a safe University. I was successful in securing an offer letter from these 2 universities as well.
  • University of Bath is highly ranked in the leagues table an QS.
  • Apart from that a very safe city. These 2 reasons led me to choose the University of Bath. The admission process involves Bachelor's grades, SOP, LOR and IELTS exam. During my time the IELTS score needed was 7 for a safe spot and the minimum was 6.5.
  • The admission process was relatively smooth with no major hiccup. However, they had a pr-check before releasing the CAS number. I had to show my financial details during this check.
  • I applied to 23 - 24 batch. I started applying in Oct 22. Got a conditional offer letter in Jan 23. Then I proceeded to do the pre-cas check as explained earlier and got my unconditional offer letter by March. I recieved CAS number on April because of change in my passport. I would have gotten it earlier had I not changed my passport. Once this was done, I proceeded with my VISA.

Class Schedule

8

  • For my course, classes were scheduled all 5 days, However, the classes were scheduled from anywhere between 8am to 5pm. There is a possibility of long breaks in between. However, all theory classes in my course are recorded.
  • My class had a total strength of about 50. However, for a few subjects, we had combined classes with the bachelors students.
  • My course had very less Indian students. Probably, only 12 students were Indians. Most of the students in my course were either British or Europeans
  • The course content is good enough to secure a graduate level job. However, I would have also liked advanced DSA.

Faculty

8

  • Faculties do not assist with part-time or full-time jobs. There is a career support group that may help you with part-time and full-time jobs. Apart from this there are several part time jobs in the university during the breaks and they are quite mindful of your schedule.
  • I am a fan of Dr Thomas Powell who taught us foundations of computing. Not only is he very knowledgeable, but also makes sure that students in his class understand the concepts. He does so by starting from the basics!
  • On an average faculty to student ratio was 70:1. The quality is not affected by this as all the educators were very eager to clear doubts of every student individually.
  • They use various teaching methodologies including but not limited to presentations, whiteboards and intensive practical sessions.

Campus Life

10

  • I believe there are close to 12 campuses in my university. All the campuses are in my university. Uni of Bath is not a city uni, meaning all campuses are just metres apart.
  • My Uni has a library building. It is multi-storied and has separate reading areas. Sports facilities are the best in the country. There in university medical centre in the university that is operated by NHS and is there only for students and staff.
  • There are many events that take place in our university and accommodations. This includes Diwali, prom night, Halloween, many dramas and various sports events.
  • We have SU (students union). SU has many societies in them like Indian Bollywood society, dance society, environment society, DJ society and photography society. All these societies conduct their own events as well.

Part Time Jobs

  • The first 2 questions are not known to me
  • For on campus jobs, they have retail jobs in the university shops and have hospitality jobs for in-campus canteens and cafes. The hourly wage is 13.45.
  • The max allowed hours per week for international students is 20 hours.
  • It is relatively easy to secure on campus jobs for students.
  • Sometimes technical jobs like DBA and cyber security consultants are also advertised. However, these positions are hard to get. However, the provide hourly wage of over 14.
  • For off campus jobs, students earn approx 12 pounds per hour. It is easy to get jobs in BAth. People usually use indeed for job search and it involves CV and a one round interview. Most of the people prefer off campus jobs due their proximity from their accommodation. A lot of jobs during holidays like Christmas are also available on contract basis.

Placement

8

  • Approx 80% of my previous cohort secured employment within 6 months. Being a citizen of UK increases the chances.
  • The average salary is approximately 33000 - 36000 pounds for students.
  • Most students apply for graduate schemes during studying. A lot of companies provide this opportunity. Some students with previous experience may also be able to secure jobs with higher salary.
  • Some of my batchmates have been placed in EY, Wessex water, Nike, Sage and HP.
  • Big 4 hires a lot from my course. Accenture also hires a lot. TPP and Future are also few of the top recruiters.

Accommodation

Off Campus
10

  • I applied for Uni accommodation but it was a city accommodation named Green Park House. My accommodation was approx 2 miles from the Uni with regular buses on U1 route.
  • My monthly rent was approx 800 pounds. And 5 people had ensuite washrooms with a communal kitchen. This was quite spacious. All utilities were included in the rent.
  • To be honest, I did not face any challenge at all securing the accommodation.
  • In Bath, I would suggest university accommodations as the number of private accommodations is quite limited.

Exams

  • IELTS is required for my course in University of Bath. Statement of purpose, letter of recommendation, resume and experience proof (if working) is needed for admission in MSc Computer Science at the University of Bath.
  • In my case there was no interview that I had to appear for. However, pre-cas interviews are common in other Universities in the UK.

Fees

  • The fee was 26400 pounds. They were broken down in 3 parts. 1000 to get the unconditional offer letter. 12200 on Sept 23. The rest had to be paid during February. However, they were pretty accommodating and provided various payment terms. The payment was semester wise.

  • Monthly expense - 1100 (everything included)
    800 - rent
    70 - transportation
    230 - Food and misc.

Scholarship

  • I did not receive any scholarship. I am not sure about the number of scholarships each year. However, my uni gives out quite a lot of scholarships to MBA students.
  • One of my course mate got a scholarship of 10000 pounds under the great India scholarship.
  • Apart from this they have global leader scholarships. However, I am not aware of anyone who has been awarded this scholarship.
