- Cultural Factors and variations
- Employment Opportunities
Dislikes
- Winter is too extreme
- Smoking habits of people in public places
- Heavy workload and pressure
Course Curriculum
- The difficulty level of my course curriculum is really very high because it’s very theoretical as well as the practical aspect.
- The positive and the negative aspects of my course is that yes, I do need to give another exam to get registered as a lawyer in the UK, but since I have no plans to stay in the UK after my graduation, I will be going back to India and serve my own country.
- The research methodology is very nice because the pattern of education in the UK is a little different than the one in India. They do not follow every day College pattern, so we just have three days a week College and that too, just for two hours. Not more than that. So with that you get a lot of time to study by yourself and do a lot of research work as far as your decision is concerned.
Admission Experience
- I applied to Queen Mary, Birmingham University, and the University of Liverpool. I received offer letters from both Queen Mary and Birmingham but did not opt for them because the fees was high and also the scholarship was not offered. Also the living expenses in London and Birmingham were much higher, which made me choose the University of Liverpool.
- I find London to be a little different and a city, which is much colder. Therefore, I selected Liverpool. Also, the fees, scholarship that was offered and also the reputation and ranking were key factors for choosing Liverpool.
- The admission procedure was very easy and student friendly. I opted for the IELTS exam and scored higher than the required score, therefore, I was also offered a scholarship which reduced my fees to a very significant amount. The accommodation that I chose was also budget friendly.
- I had applied for the September 2024 intake. The factors that influenced me the most were the ranking and standard of education. The admission procedure took not more than two months, but I did take some more time to come to the decision of moving abroad for education because it was a very different thing for me to overcome due to family and financial issues which were challenging for me. Despite this, I received the acceptance letter from the university within 10 days of applying for the course.
Faculty
- The faculty members are really very helpful in all terms. The Members do assist you in a lot of other things like getting part-time and full-time jobs. We are really having a tough time getting jobs.
- I admire Mr Ben Murphy a lot, who is the project coordinator of the LLM course.
- The number of students in my class will not be more than 40. Also, the faculty to student ratio is absolutely fantastic- 1:20. It’s just one or two teachers , for 20 students, not more than that. It's a really good quality of education and interaction that the faculty does with the students.
Campus Life
- The University of Liverpool primarily operates from its main campus situated in the northwest of England, but also has other campuses and research facilities across the globe.

- The Sport Liverpool program encompasses a wide range of sports amenities that include a gym, a swimming pool, outdoor pitches, fitness classes and training. They also have an organized structure of sports teams that participates in competitions.
- Health services and wellbeing centers such as Abercromby Wellbeing Zone work alongside outside organizations to provide medical assistance and mental health care to students.
- There are various activities organized in the college almost every week. There is a Welcome Week with lots of deals, movie-viewing parties and quizzes. The Guild boasts of more than 200 student clubs and societies from cultural and academic, sports to creative arts promoting active student engagements.
Part Time Jobs
- Teaching Assistant (TA), Research Assistant (RA), or Departmental Assistant (DA) positions are offered to postgraduate students. Though these positions provide practical and academic work related benefits, their availability may vary with your department as well as your level of study. The pay scale for these positions ranges between £10 to £15 per hour mark depending on the experience and the nature of work involved.
- Apart from academic jobs, the university also offers various functional on-campus jobs. These include working as library assistants or as student ambassadors and even working in the university’s cafes, or shops. The pay ranges between £7 to £10 per hour.
- For international students on a student’s visa, the University of Liverpool imposes a strict limit of 20 hours a week, during term time. Full-time jobs are allowed during breaks/vacations.
- The university runs initiatives such as the Part-Time Jobs Fair, where students are able to meet employers who need to hire for part-time and temporary positions. However, it gets highly competitive to get these jobs and so students have to be keen to commence searching for them early enough with special emphasis to international students who have to deal with visas as well.
- You can also find part time jobs through job postings, job fairs, or Indeed or Reed.
Placement
- Employment rate is 90 % amongst graduates who are employed. The university offers a strong support system via its Career centers.
- Most Liverpool Graduates begin earning between 24,000 pounds to 30,000 pounds except in practiced fields.
- Most students are able to get jobs through campus recruitment, internship and networking. The university also has a platform called Handshake which engages students with employers - providing jobs, offering career events and even networking. Also, work placements undertaken within the program are usually offered to students upon graduation .
- Recruiters such as WSP, Mclaughlin and Harvey, DWF Law and Accutrainee regularly hire graduates from Liverpool.
- Average Package: £24000 to £30000 per annum.
Accommodation
- I did get an accommodation from the university, but it was a little more expensive, so I did find it by myself so the accommodation that I chose was a little cheaper and much more. A community wise safer for me so I selected this accommodation. It’s just a 10 minutes walk from the university, so yeah, I would recommend this accommodation for the future students as well.
Exams
- So they do require an English proficiency exam, so I had given IELTS, which was a very good exam. I could definitely score the desired band with the basic documentation necessary. IELTS exam is just skill based, so yes, a pretty good amount of practice is required, although for somebody who has been learning or studying English language since their nursery or your school matriculation school, it’s easier to get through the IELTS exams.
- You have to submit all your educational documents, your mark sheets, your statement of purpose from the university, your CV, as far as the visa is concerned. There was no interview as such only biometric was taken.
Fees
- The complete fees for my course is £22,400, but because I was offered a scholarship of £5000, itt brought my fees down to £17,400. They charge yearly fees, but I was given an option to pay it in two installments, therefore, I paid the first 60% of the fees, and the rest 40% has to be paid before the Month of February.
- The Monthly expenses of my rent, transportation, and the other regular expenses would not go beyond £500. I found Liverpool a little cheaper city than the other cities comparatively.
Scholarship
- No, I did not receive any other scholarship during the course, except the one that the university had offered £5000 for the graduate program.
- Many of my batch mates received the same type of scholarship and I think on average maybe more than 80% of the students opting for this course, do receive a scholarship of rupees £5000.
- I also think there should be some other scholarships for people who apply a little late to the admission course because the results and all of the other procedure and the paperwork take a little bit of time so if you apply after the January or February month, it’s very difficult to get this scholarship, so yes, I think you should get some more opportunities to get the scholarships
