Course Curriculum

8

  • My course was mixed with both theory and practical approach. The university had very good labs to learn with hands- on experience.
  • The teaching was a good, most understanding approach along with a practical way which also helps in securing good jobs.
  • There is a separate careers section that helps with finding jobs both part time and full time and also helps with interview and tailoring cv and resume along with cover letters for jobs.

Admission Experience

  • Applied to University of Hertfordshire and was admitted and shortlisted by King's college London. I didn't get any rejections in any universities.
  • The application process was easy and simple without any complex procedures. The reason I selected Hertfordshire was its reputation, fee structure and accessibility from london. The ranking was reasonable and the graduates from this university in the tech field landed in a very good position. Admission was simple as getting the documents ready and just filling the application; there was no fee for applications as well.
  • I applied in January 2023 intake. The admission process took me around 6 months to process that included application till getting visa. I applied for it in May 2022 and got an offer next month. I was asked to pay a deposit to hold the offer. Within 1.5 months after payment I received the scholarship along with some slots for an interview that took place over call. After the interview, I received the cas letter and applied for a visa in December and got a visa in January.

Class Schedule

8

  • There will be a max of 3 hours class per day with 3 days a  session.
  • The strength totally depends on the session, the person we meet today will not be attending the next session.
  • They have different timetables and I have different ones. There will be around 150 students in my batch for my course where they are split in groups and scheduled for classes.

Campus Life

10

  • My university has 2 campuses which are in the same location. There is a bus running between them every 10-15 mins.My university has a library on both campuses and has a cafeteria.
  • There are sports facilities like football, tennis , badminton, hockey and much more. There is an onsite gym facility along with snookers and much more indoor games.

Part Time Jobs

  • There are multiple opportunities available in and around campus that include student ambassadors, library help desk, IT admins, restaurant jobs, retail store jobs and much more but as there are limited facilities and openings, they may face difficulties in finding a job. The pay is really good with minimum pay of 11.5£/hour and student ambassadors earn around 12.5£/hour.
  • Most Indian students prefer to work in retail or restaurant as there is a good pay and if they find a same language people who works or own the place they feel comfort of the place to work.
  • Many students also think of permanently staying in the place which is obviously a bad step in my opinion as they need to break the comfort zone and get into multiple places, the only thing which is needed is a good resume and skills to crack the interview.

Placement

8

  • Full time opportunities are not very much available but it totally depends on the field we are applying to. Tech and IT field has a variety of openings and opportunities so they have the options to land a good one. Most people find an internship rather than a job as they are new to the UK's work culture and hence face difficulty in applying and getting a job as they don't know how to tailor a CV or cover letter.

Accommodation

Off Campus
6

  • I opted for off campus as there is no opportunity to work around the campus and the rents in campus are high. The monthly rents and bills will be around 500£ for off campus and 700£ for in campus so I would prefer and advise you to choose off campus accommodation. But if somebody is not looking for any jobs and they want the comfort to stay near campus then in campus housing  will be a good choice.

Exams

  • If the English marks that we scored during school are high, exams are not important for the application. Exams are suggested like IELTS if we want to develop communication.
  • Documents required: Letter Of Recommendation, CV or resume, Statement Of Purpose is must in order to process the application.
  • The interview was simple just to check the communication and the way of speaking. It was over the telephone so it was so easy to crack.

Fees

  • The fee is 16500£. I got a 1000£ scholarship that includes the tuition, exam and any other expenses related to study.
  • For living it costs me 450-475£ per month for rent. Extra expenses include 100£ for travel, 100£ groceries, 50£ takeaways, 50£ bills. In total it costs me around 750-800£ monthly for my extra expenses, it might go higher and lower as well.
  • For my tuition fee, the university suggested paying it in 3 installments.

Scholarship

  • Yes, I did receive some scholarship that was worth 1000 pounds. This scholarship was from the university side. I didn’t apply for any other scholarship that is from any other source but there are some options that literally make the education fully funded by them.
  • There are some criteria that need to be fulfilled to avail that for which I was not eligible. The university scholarship is given to every student who pays the fee on time.
