Colleges Where I Was Accepted
Reason for choosing my college
- The master's degree in the UK usually takes one year, which is quite time-saving if you want to start your career early, whereas, in Australia, it takes two years, but if you are not great at the subject, you should go for the two-year course where you can give time for your studies and make a strong base.
- I felt that I was already good in accounting and finance, and I was confident that I could complete 3 semesters in a year. Also, you can save time and money if you would go for a one-year course.
- The UK is not a great option if you want to work there after your degree because they have shortened the length of a post-study visa, which was 2 years and now it is just 6 months, still, if you want to get a degree and come back to your home country that would be beneficial as well.
- Now coming to the colleges, you can choose any college under 250 QS ranking, they all are great and have the same kind of education system.
Colleges Where I Was Rejected
Reason for Rejection
Well, I got accepted into every university I have applied to, but the reason I didn't choose Deakin University is that it was really expensive just like every other private university in Australia, if you are willing to go to Australia I would recommend trying getting In public universities (Group of eight), which are slightly more expensive than the private universities but they are worth every penny.

Tips to enhance your application
The admission process Is quite clear you won't need extra documents, just your mark sheets, and degrees, if you have curriculum certificates it would be great, SOP your IELTS scorecard.
Admission Experience
- I chose the University of Strathclyde for several reasons. First, the UK has a strong academic reputation, particularly in business, which was a key factor for me. Strathclyde stood out because of its emphasis on practical learning and its strong industry connections, which I knew would help with career opportunities.
- The university's focus on employability and real-world problem-solving was appealing. Strathclyde is also highly ranked, especially in business and finance and the Strathclyde business school is well regarded.
- The MSc in International Accounting and Finance was exactly what I was looking for a balance of theory and practical experience.
- The location in Glasgow was a huge bonus too. the city is vibrant, affordable compared to the other UK cities, and packed with culture and student-friendly spots. Career-wise, Strathclyde offers excellent resources, from internships to job fairs, and has great links with top industries.
- The academic experience was challenging but rewarding, with lots of group work and hands-on projects. beyond academics, the student life was fantastic there were plenty of clubs, societies, and activities to get involved in, which made the experience even more fulfilling.
- Overall, Strathclyde provided the perfect mix of academic rigour, practical experience, and an exciting city to live in.
Class Schedule
- Usually, there are 3 to 4 classes in a week, but for Accounting and Finance, there are five and sometimes six classes in a week. Accounting and finance is an important course that brings great ratings to the business school, so they focus more on this subject.
- Class timings also vary subject to subject, usually from 9 am to 1 pm. The average strength of the class is 40 to 60 students, our class strength was 54 students. Indian students are everywhere in the world, and they contribute a major part to an international student society, in my course, there were 29 Indian students out of 54 total students which is more than 50%.
- Time on assignments and self-study at home also depends on the difficulty of the course, I gave 5 to 6 hours daily for my assignments and self-study.
Faculty
Faculty to student ratio was 1:10, which is quite good, and the approachability is great you just have to make an appointment a day or a few hours before the meeting. The accounting faculties were great not just because I have a deep interest in that subject but also because they explained and taught everything using real and practical aspects. Faculties do help in getting full-time jobs If they think that you deserve it, they give their reference too.
Campus Life
- My college has more than 20 buildings, which include a gym, pool, library, infirmary, a strathunion which has a cafe, bar, pool tables etc. My campus was Strathclyde Business School; there are a lot of fests and events that happen almost every day, some Chinese tea parties and another day's celebration for Africans.
- Extracurricular activities like how to make a good resume, how to apply for a job, and how to prepare for an interview, and I could go on. And at every hour there is something you just have to go and attend the seminar.
Part Time Jobs
- Part-time job pays 11-13 pounds per hour, Indians usually work where they prefer working. Getting a part-time could be difficult if you have no connection in the city, connections are very, very important, so before flying abroad, join WhatsApp or Facebook groups of your community so you can get a reference from them for a job.
- You can also apply through Indeed and LinkedIn. The best kinds of jobs are a cashier in a store, and customer service representative, KFC, and McDonald too have a lot of part-time jobs,
- I don't know anyone who has TA/RA/DA roles. On campus, you have jobs like in strathunion, where you can be a waiter in a cafe or bar. They don't have internships on campus, so if you are looking for a part-time internship, you have to search for it for yourself.
- The minimum wage is 11 pounds per hour and you can work for 20 hours a week max, and when you have holidays and off-college weeks, you can work for 40 hours a week, but again you won't be getting many holidays because you are gonna complete your masters in a year so everything goes very fast.
Placement
40% of the batch got the job within 6 months; sometimes, it's hard to get your desired job in 6 months. average salary is around 30 to 40 thousand pounds. Students get a job through references and from websites like Linkedin and Indeed. In my batch, the lowest salary offered was 25 thousand pounds, and the highest was 80 thousand pounds, again it varies on the experience of the individual.
