What Students Say
Likes
- The parts that I really appreciated about my university were my professors who were very efficient in teaching us the subject, it was a very inclusive campus and it encouraged lots of technological advancements on the campus.
- Professors never pressured us, but they were really kind to us and always appreciated collaborations.
- I was also fortunate enough to get the opportunity to attend Maastricht University’s IP Conference through my university ( Queen Mary University, London), the environment of my university always made me feel safe.
Dislikes
- There was nothing in particular that I disliked about the college it's just the area where the mile-end campus is situated seems a bit unsafe, but other campuses like Lincoln’s Inn which is situated in central London seem very safe and convenient, the nearest tube station for Queen Mary’s Lincoln’s Inn campus Holborn station.
Required Exams for Admission
I chose Queen Mary University of London because it provides one of the best course structures for Intellectual Property Rights and all the renowned professors taught in this university. I overall really liked my experience at this university, which was really great in terms of academics as LLM is more inclined towards academia and it fulfilled all the criteria of developing a deeper understanding of the subject and developing my own dissertation and also because all my professors were very helpful. I chose this particular program ( Intellectual Property Rights) because most of my interests have been carved around IPR through my internships and publications and I further want to pursue PhD in this subject thus I was inclined to choose this subject.
Course Curriculum
It was very updated and the professors always talked about the updated laws they always used to send notifications if any amendments were made especially in IP in Music Contracts class. My university gave us the opportunity to attend an Intellectual Property seminar at Maastricht University for academic exposure.
Faculty
The student-faculty ratio is 1:50. The faculty and staff were very helpful and well-versed in their area and they were approachable in person and through mail. My professor Noam Shemtov helped me a lot in academics in understanding the subject as well as academic exposure through seminars.
Campus Life
There were clubs like qLegal which specialised in law and equipped us with pro bono legal advice experience for start-ups. The university has in total 3 libraries sprawled across 3 locations, the whole campus is equipped with free WiFi and cafeterias with student discounts going now and then.
Placement
There is no help from the university for placement although the university does have the careers department which can provide help with the CV & cover letter. Rest, we need to reach out to the recruiters.
Accommodation
I stayed in a single room occupancy with a shared kitchen, I shared it with 1 person. My rent per month was 900 pounds. The accommodation was a private accommodation which was located in central London.
Exams
- The requirement for the IELTS score is 7.0 for my university and my IELTS Score was 7.0 - CBSE (10th): CGPA 9.0/ 10; CBSE (12th) percentage: 90%; UG CGPA: 7.98/10 - Requirements: Yes, I did submit my SOP, 2 LORs and my updated CV focused on Intellectual Property Rights. In the SOP it’s important to mention- about yourself, your desire for the particular subject of LLM, why you like the subject, what contributions you make towards the subject area, your future with that subject, why that particular law school for LLM? It is done in 1,000 words usually.
