At University of Sk?vde, we offer a one-year Master's programme in Infection Biology were you will study molecular mechanisms and processes involved in the pathogenesis of different microorganisms as well as the molecular and cellular processes of the immune defense. You will also use laboratory and computer-based techniques that can be applied within the fields of human and animal health. In the programme you will also study the structure of genes and proteins as well as the understanding of their function and regulation. The The Infection Biology 60 ECTS course is delivered by University of Sk?vde.
The programme involves in-depth research oriented studies in the areas of Molecular Biology and Infection Biology. Independent laboratory work is a prominent part of the studies. During the first semester you will study advanced courses in infection biology, molecular biology, biostatistics and bioinformatics and their applications in infection biology. Advanced laboratory facilities are employed for cell culture, RNA/DNA and protein analyses. Computational resources are also used for molecular biological and bioinformatic analysis and database searching. The programme is concluded with a master's degree project work (30 credits) during the last semester. During the project work, you will expand your theoretical and laboratory knowledge and solve a relevant research problem in Molecular Biology (with a focus in Infection Biology). The project work is performed individually under the direction of supervisors qualified in the field.
After completing the program you can for example work in pharmaceutical companies or at hospitals. You can also continue with PhD studies or other kind of research at governmental and private research laboratories.
