Founded in 1977, University of Skovde is a non-profit public university in Skovde, Vastergotland. The University offers a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate programs in various disciplines like Behavioral Sciences, Bioscience, Engineering and Technology, Game Development, Informatics and many more.
The University of Skovde has a student enrollment of 7,500 every year and faculty of 400 members to provide quality education to its students. The institution has a very selective admission policy, selecting the students on the basis of the past academic records and grades of the students.
Before applying, students must take note of the following:
- University of Skovde welcomes applications through the official Swedish University application service for the autumn and spring semesters.
- Students are not required to pay any fee to the university however, university admissions charges an application fee of 900 SEK.
- There are 2 rounds of admissions for each session.
- Applications for the Autumn and Spring semesters are available from October 16 and June 1 respectively.
- The admission decision for the second round of applications are announced a few days before the commencement and should not be preferred by international students keeping in mind the length of visa procedure, searching for accommodation, making travel arrangements, etc.
- Programs at the university are offered in English are available for international students; therefore, Swedish language proficiency is not required for admission.
COVID-19 Admission Updates
- The campus of University of Skovde is open for students for the autumn semester. Most parts of the classes will be conducted on campus and parts of it wherever necessary may be conducted online.
- International students are required to be present on campus on August 24 for the Introduction Program.
- Students who do not receive their residence permit on time will be given a grace period until September 14. If residence permit is not issued by this date, their admission offer will be rejected and tuition fee will be refunded.

Visa Process for International Students
In order to study in Sweden, students are required to apply for a residence permit. Students whose total period of stay is no longer than 3 months must apply for an entry visa instead of residence permit. Applications can be submitted at the Swedish embassy or consulate in your home country. The process may take as long as 12 weeks, therefore students are advised to apply as soon as they receive the letter of acceptance from the university.
While applying for the residence permit, students are required to submit the following documents:

Applications for the autumn semester are closed. The next application period for the master’s program applicants will begin from June 1 and continue until August 17 for the Spring semester. Applicants who have applied for any program at the University will be contacted at their respective point of contacts mentioned in the admission application. After receiving the acceptance from the University of Skovde, the students can apply for the residence permit required to enter Sweden.
