What Students Say
Likes
- The professors have sound technical knowledge and are student friendly.
- Lab facilities
- College timing and schedule
Dislikes
- The fee is a little high compared to other university
- The work load and examination system is a little competitive
- The language is not a major problem, but knowing it would be a better option for internships and jobs.
Course Curriculum
- The course is a good one; all physics-oriented courses in KTH are so good. The Aerospace course has 4 tracks of study and has very good professors to guide us through all tracks. The positive aspect is it's very flexible. I really like the structure of the course. I don't see a negative aspect at all ... The class timings vary; it's generally between 8-5 and 2-4 hours a day. The class had around 110 students, of whom 15 are Indians.
Admission Experience
- I applied for 7 colleges; I was accepted at 4 and rejected at 3. I was rejected by ISAE SUPAERO, TU Delft And the University of Twente. I personally think my GRE score was not enough and my bachelor's was not equivalent to the Dutch bachelor's. Isae supaero was a very competitive University for my course; I guess I had better candidates applying for it. I was accepted at KTH, POLIMI, BOLOGNA, and ÉCOLE CENTRALE DE LYON. From which I chose KTH.
- I chose KTH; talking to my seniors in college, my professors, and the university itself had a great impact on choosing it over others. Admission starts in the month of December; the last day of applications is 15 jan. Then the results are declared on the 3rd week of March. We apply at universityadmission.se and the basic requirements vary according to the courses. The IELTS requirement is 7.
- I applied for fall 2024. it took me a total of 3-4 weeks for my entire application process to be done. I started off with my LOR; I got 3 for KTH and I started working with my SOP. Then the application process was very simple and I paid the application fee. It was a very easy process when compared to other universities; the documents need some time, and other procedures are very straightforward and clear.
Faculty
- The faculty here have high knowledge and they are so student-friendly and accessible. These people help us even with a small issue or doubt; they actively respond to emails and calls. In class after class, they are always available for a little talk and a word of guidance.
- The methods are usually live classes and the recordings and materials are also given. This gives enough knowledge to secure a job, but getting a job is our own effort.
- The part-time jobs at the university are fewer, but the teachers send out mail and conduct interviews if a vacancy is available. I really like my professors who is DAN ZENKERT, a very senior professors with great attitude and high knowledge
Campus Life
- There are totally 5 campuses for KTH I study at the main campus. There is a student union office, library, multiple labs, computer labs, and research facilities. Pubs, cafes, student bakery and many more. There are a lot of career fairs, and Christmas week and new year is celebrated a lot here at KTH. There's a lot of singing, dancing and college sport teams. I was a part of the KTH football team.
Part Time Jobs
- Teaching assistants and lab assistants at KTH are fewer, but If they are chosen, they are paid well and are good. There are other part-time jobs outside the university; they pay well, and the work limit depends on each place you work at. It is generally between 20 and 35 hours a week. It is easy; once you have a bank account at sweden, you can start searching for part-time jobs outside. On campus it is a little difficult due to fewer vacancies.
- Many indian students do their part-time jobs to support daily expenses; they mostly do not work on campus but work outside and are paid like 120 kr an hour before taxes, which is like $11 an hour. Part-time jobs outside are an easy process; you do not have interviews or tests, but a technical role in the university has a lot of processes and depends on the role of the applicant.
Placement
- Most of the students are placed within 6 months of the course; that is, like 90% are placed. People with research interests take up PhDs. They get placed with a good package, like a minimum of 30000 kr a month; the university does not directly help in job searching. The professors are helpful and guide us in our job search. Mainly we search for jobs by networking and online job portals. I am in the first year so I don't have a detailed view of the placements. The major companies that come for recruitment are Volvo, saab, Scania, Airbus, etc.
Accommodation
- The quality of accommodation and stay at campus is very safe, commutable and comfortable. It has all facilities inside, such as laundry, kitchen and cycle parking spaces too. There are 3 possible university accommodations, of which 2 are in the university and 1 is 3km away from the campus, which is a 20-minute travel.
- There is an sssb.se queue where you can look for cheaper and better accommodation after the first year. I stay on campus; I pay around 63k inr a month. I would recommend taking the cheaper ones; it makes a lot of difference in the monthly expenses.
Exams
- The admission process requirements vary upon course; for my course, it was more technical requirements, and IELTS 7 was a requirement. There was no interview; the results were declared straightway.
- The transcripts of the undergraduate course if you had not completed the course were required, and then you were conditionally accepted, and once you submitted the degree, you were unconditionally accepted.
Fees
- There are kth scholarships for first and second years; the fee varies from 27 to 30 l, which was the tuition fee. The monthly expenses include rent, food, travel, and internet. I stay on the campus so it is a little expensive and it costs me around 70k inr per month, but my friends stay for a much lesser price. I would conclude by saying the entire budget for 2 year programme would be 45 lakhs INR
Scholarship
- I did not receive a scholarship. I applied for a lot of scholarships when I entered the university itself, but it was extremely competitive and I was not chosen. I wish I had gotten one this year but I did not make it this time too, one of my friends got a scholarship and her entire tuition fees were waived.
- The ratio of students awarded scholarships is very low, like 2% of the entire student body, which includes all branches.
