Services Offered by VFS Global in India

VFS Global offers both mandatory and optional paid services at its centres in India. The mandatory service is the biometrics appointment itself. The optional services are add-ons that make the process more convenient.

Important Note: The base biometrics appointment does not carry an additional charge from VFS Global beyond the visa application fee paid to the government. Optional services like Document Upload Assistance, Premium Lounge, and courier return are paid add-ons with separate fees. How to Book a VFS Global Appointment in India

The appointment booking process varies slightly by destination country, but the general steps are the same for most countries. You must complete your online visa application and pay the visa fee before you can book a VFS appointment for most countries.

• Step 1: Complete your online visa application. Go to the official government portal of your destination country (for example, GOV.UK for the UK, IRCC for Canada, France-Visas for France). Fill in all required details and pay the visa application fee online.
• Step 2: Go to the VFS Global India portal for your destination country. Visit visa.vfsglobal.com and select India as your applying country and your destination country. You will be directed to the correct country-specific VFS portal.
• Step 3: Create a VFS account or log in. Register on the VFS portal with your email address and create a password. This account is used to book and manage your appointment.
• Step 4: Select your nearest Visa Application Centre. Choose from the available centres in your city or the nearest city. Check operating days and hours before selecting.
• Step 5: Select your preferred date and time slot. Available slots are shown in a calendar view. Select a date and time that works for you. Slots fill up quickly during peak season (July to September).
• Step 6: Confirm your appointment and save your confirmation letter. After booking, you will receive an appointment confirmation letter with a QR code by email. Download and save this. You must bring it to the centre.

What to Bring to Your VFS Global Appointment

The documents required at your VFS appointment depend on the destination country. However, the following items are required for almost all countries. Always check the specific document checklist for your destination country on the VFS Global India portal before your appointment.

• Appointment Confirmation Letter with QR Code: Received from VFS Global after booking. Can be downloaded from your VFS account. You must show this to security before entering the centre.
• Valid Passport or Travel Document: Must be valid for the required period (varies by country). Bring your current passport and any previous passports if they contain relevant visas or travel history.
• Printout of Your Document Checklist: Generated at the end of your online visa application. Print this and bring it with you.

What Happens at a VFS Global Centre

The entire VFS appointment typically takes 15 to 40 minutes. Here is what to expect when you arrive at the centre.

• Security check at entry: Show your appointment confirmation letter and QR code to security staff at the entrance. You will be admitted at or just before your scheduled appointment time.
• Identity verification: Staff verify your identity against your passport at the counter.
• Biometric capture: A digital fingerprint scanner captures all 10 fingerprints. No ink or chemicals are used. A digital photograph of your full face is also taken. You must not have anything covering your face or eyes. Head coverings are permitted only for religious or medical reasons. Make sure your fingers are free from cuts, abrasions, or decorations on the day of your appointment.
• Document submission (if applicable): If you have not uploaded your documents online, you can use the paid Document Upload Assistance service. Staff scan and upload your documents on your behalf.
• Receipt and next steps: After your biometrics are submitted, the government processes your application. You will receive a decision by email or through the tracking system. Processing time begins from the date of your biometrics appointment.
