Overview of Geolgy Department at UNOM

Curriculum is very backward. No splitting if subjects all major subjects are placed in same semester. Exams held in short time period. More improvement should be done in curriculum. Curriculum somewhat prepares for the real world application

Internship opportunities are wide public sector companies like ONGC, NLC, IREL and institutes like NIO, NCPOR , NCESS are provided after first year. They provide training from Central and state government organisation related to geology. In First year field work training with GSI is provided

Fees is 8000 per year for regular students and 50000 for self finance students and State scholarship like SC/ST,BC/MBC scholarship available.National Scholarship is also available.Apart from that exam fees is collected seperately

Not much technical festivals yearly pongal celebration will be held. All saturday is holiday. Classrooms are pretty neat and good. A library with all the necessary book are present a geological museum with wide range of fossils and minerals aldo available

Hostel is the best part there are two hostel available for both boys and girls one in taramani and one in guindy. Room rent for hostel is very low. Two members in each room. Food quality is pretty good. Each month separate bill should be paid for food.

I preferred colleges in chennai. Admission process is not that much difficulty. You have to register in the website they will notify us regarding the entrance exam and after that based on our UG marks and entrance mark seat will be allocated.

Faculty student ratio is ok,staffs are very well approachable, they will grant permissions and encourage to participate in all activities, seminars, conferences and field work.Exam are of 100 marks each subject

No gym facilities available. For cafe and canteen we should share with AC tech canteen which is near the campus. Surrounding area does not have any shops or stationary stalls. You should travel atleast 1km to reach the shops.
