Course Curriculum Overview

4

Half of the syllabus that is there for Mcom is also there in Bcom. Masters is done after Bachelors only, so I don't think studying the same syllabus in Mcom is useful. They can alter the syllabus by including real life business problems. The exam pattern is fine. The time alloted for 100 marks semester exam is 3 hours which is perfect.

Placement Experience

5

Students are eligible to attend placements from the final year. Bcom students are eligible from there 5th semester (that is final year 1st semester). Mcom students are eligible from there 3rd semester (that is final year 1st semester). There were plenty of companies that comes for placement. I'll share few of them that I got during my Mcom. 1. Deloitte. This is one of the Big 4 company. They offered 6lpa along with 1 lakh as joining bonus. 2. Ernst & young. They offered 4.4lpa. 3. Survey Sparrow. They offered 8 Lpa which is 80% fixed and 20% variable. There were also companies like Small finance Bank, Cognizant, Congruent Solutions, RR Donnelley, Sanmar, Mr. Cooper, etc Out of 46 almost 20 of my classmates got placed. I attended placement and got offer from Survey Sparrow but my goal is to start my career in banking, so I didn't accept the offer. The maximum package is 8 Lpa and the average is 3.5 lpa or 4lpa.

Fees and Financial Aid

My college is charging 15000 per year for day shift M.com students which is comparatively less. Day shift is given for students who scored the highest that is on merit base. Scholarships are available upto 10000 which is also on merit basis. I did my bachelor's in the same college, for B.com they are charging 8000 per year which is also comparatively less.

Campus Life

5

The main event for which all the students will be eagerly waiting is "Vaishnav Baazaar". It takes place in the month of February and the bazaar is mostly for 2 days. Students of the college and alumni of the college can take part in the bazaar by paying some amount to keep shop (4500 - 6000). College will provide the tickets worth their rent amount freely to the shop owners to avoid loss for the students and college will also sell tickets. International conference will be conducted by the college in the month of February. Event called "Pragati" is also one of the famous event that is conducted by Commerce department. Here students from outside college can only participate. This is done to give chance for other college students. Along with all these there are many more interesting events that are being conducted by the college every year. The books and journals that are available in the college Library is moderate. Students are allowed to take only subject books. If at all students show interest in any books or journals apart from there subjects they can sit and read inside the library but cannot take them home. The usual period of keeping the book with them is 15 days after which students can renewal the book. Sports day is also conducted yearly once. Students are encouraged to participate and showcase their talents. There are many clubs 1. NCC. 2. NSS. 3. Citizen Consumer Club. 4. Rotaract club, etc

Admission

I have applied only in 2 colleges that is Madras Christian College which is in Tambaram and DG Vaishnav college which is in Arumbakkam. I got selected in MCC but I didn't opt to go there. The reason for not choosing is the distance that I should travel on daily basis. I chose DG vaishnav College for its NAAC grade that is A++. The admission process of my college is, they will only consider the main subjects. So 12th marks are for 600, they will consider your main subject marks i.e., out of 400. I got 376 out of 400 and fortunately I was there in the merit list. This was before 5 years. Now the merit list got more strict and students who score above 390 out of 400 are in the merit list. There will also be seats for management quota. Once you come under the merit list they will call you for counseling, Which is nothing but you will have to go and provide them you original Transfer Certificate and copy of your mark sheets if you are willing to join. On the same day you will be asked to pay the fees to confirm your admission. The fees that I paid for Government shift (Day shift) for Bcom was 8000 per Year and for Mcom was 15000 per year. You can find colleges that charge less than this for Government shift but the quality of the education is what matters.

Faculty

The facilities are very much approachable. Staff rooms are placed in all the floors to avoid unnecessary dramas. I like all my faculties. We have 2 semesters per year and for each semester we have 3 internals which is for 50 marks each. All these 3 internal marks will be combined together for 20 marks. Semester exam is for 100 marks which is later converted into 60 marks. Balance 40 marks is the combination of internals, attendance and discipline

Night Life

5

There is no Gym inside the college. There is cafeteria where we can spend quality time. Right opposite to the cafe there is a pond, this whole scenery is the perfect place for all the students. Cafe, canteen, library will be open from 8Am to 6Pm. Students should go out of the campus by 6, only students in NCC and NSS students are allowed after 6 if there is any work or event. As I have already mentioned the famous hangout place inside the college is the cafe Along with pond. Famous hangout place outside the college is VR Mall which is 5 mins from college, Ingi & Soy restaurant with is also 5 mins from college, turf, cafes that are located in Anna nagar are near the college so you can go there to have fun.
