Course Curriculum Overview

4

G. Pulla Reddy Engineering College has a well-defined structure in terms of the core course subjects. What stands out however is the emphasis on practice. The addition of development, research, applied building and architecture labs in the curriculum has helped in developing a better technical perspective. This practical outlook inspired me to go for this course as it is more practical, project oriented and focuses on applied learning. Degree of Readiness in Relation to Real Life: The curriculum is observed to offer a mix that prepares students for field work. For example, the students can see the relevance of theory to practice by doing labs and project work. They should however include more of the state of the art technologies and tools that would enable us graduate with the skills required in today’s job market as well as the emerging fields of technology. Areas of Concern: Including Up To Date Technologies: Such changes to the curricula would assist graduates to be better placed when exposed to the job market and are more likely to be in positions that are relevant to the economies of the emerging fields. Innovative Approaches to Teaching: Industry practitioners should engage the class and talk about their work to give us insights on the industry and what is expected of it and us. Exams: There were 2 mid exams ,1 external exam for each semester.

Internships Opportunities

4

Our college partners with startups to provide more skill-based, hands-on internship opportunities, although they are usually unpaid. Some of the organizations that often give internship opportunities include TAP Academy, GTech Jains, and Global Quest. These will help students gain practical exposure in executing real-world projects, especially web development and AI research areas. Internship Opportunities and Companies: College-sponsored internships: TAP Academy, GTech Jains, and Global Quest are some of the startup companies that provide unpaid internships at regular intervals for the students' development. Independent stipend-based Internships: Several students successfully bag high paid internships on campus through their individual efforts; stipends range as high as INR 50,000 per month. The opportunity provides a chance to work on advanced projects and gain insights into what industry-standard practices may be. Internships will largely focus on frontend web development, where students work towards creating user interfaces and the interactive aspects of various projects. AI and Machine Learning: Worked on a Medicine Recommendation System in the internship, developed a predictive model for diseases using user symptoms and gave recommendations to a user based on them. This helped me enhance skills in building, training, and fine-tuning the ML models which are pretty essential in applications involving AI. These internships turn out to be an excellent learning experience and help students apply their theoretical knowledge to practical scenarios, thus equipping both technical and professional skills for future career opportunity.

Placement Experience

4

Our college has excellent placement records that open avenues for students in many sectors. The eligibility for campus placements begins from the 7th semester, and when the students are preparing to graduate, they indeed have a chance to practice what they learned to gain industry exposure. Companies Visiting and Offers: Many major companies visit our campus for recruitment. Of late, Accenture, LTIMindtree, and Cognizant visited the campus and handed over around 250 offers together. If one considers the variety of companies visiting the campus, then the variety of roles offered is quite considerable, mostly from IT services and software development, which are important for students of all the engineering disciplines. Placement Packages: Highest Package: 7 LPA Average Package: 4.5 LPA Lowest Package: 4 LPA These package details reflect opportunities across various profiles, usually in software development, testing, and support roles. Placement Rate: About 65% of the students in my department have been placed through campus drives. The ones who are not placed on campus are getting geared up for off-campus recruitment by upskilling in industry-specific technologies that broadens their employability. My Post-Graduation Plans My plan is to get a job in the IT industry. I would like to get a campus placement. In case of off-campus opportunity, I would prefer to get more technical skills and other certifications so that the possibility of getting higher opportunities will be higher, especially in software engineering and development. Moreover, if further studies or any specialized courses are there that promote career prospects, then I would seriously consider them.

Admission

I chose G. Pulla Reddy Engineering College mainly because of its good placement record and affordability, making it a better deal than all the other colleges. From all the colleges I had applied to, Sri Vidya Niketan in Tirupati was also an option. I avoided Sri Vidya Niketan, though, opting for G. Pulla Reddy Engineering College, not just because of the fee structure but also because of the campus environment it afforded-something which was also much more satisfactory. Other Colleges Contemplated: Sri Vidya Niketan, Tirupati: This was one of my other choices. This had a higher taker in comparison to G. Pulla Reddy Engineering College. The good placement record coupled with the two above factors made me settle for the former. I was looking for admission in National Institutes of Technology (NITs). I scored 93.4 percentile in JEE Mains, and I was hoping that the seat would come through, but this did not happen with such a high cut off, hence not very encouraging. So, I attempted again, but the result was similar, so I aimed to look for opportunities in my state and undertook the EAMCET exam. Procedure for getting admission at G. Pulla Reddy Engineering College: The admission process here in this institution G. Pulla Reddy Engineering College is based purely on EAMCET rank. It happens to be the first choice of most aspirants for engineering in Andhra Pradesh. My rank was 7983; therefore, it was favorably considering good colleges within the state. So did the same thing with G. Pulla Reddy's cutoff as well to match with my rank. Eligibility: Students who passed 12th class and have a background of Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry are accepted in the college. Exams Accepted: EAMCET is the significant exam accepted. This is the most preferred entrance test used for the entry into engineering colleges in Andhra Pradesh. Cutoffs: Cutoffs vary with gender and caste categories. It ranges from one cutoff to the other depending on the categories of reserved and gener

Faculty to student ratio was 1:10 Most of the faculty were PhD holders and have great experience about topics. I like our programming faculty who was very interesting about teaching programming through practical things There were 2 mid exams 1 external exams and difficultly of the exams was easy to medium. If we fail in external we have to clear through supplementary exams.

Facilities: Gym, canteen, food court, and library are allowed to visit within their operational timings but close by evening. This pushes the students to head home or to the hostel after classes. Hostel Timing: In the evenings, students can go out till 10 o'clock, which is amply sufficient for socialization or even dinner at a friend's place. Hangout Places Spicy Leaf Dhaba: A favorite and money-saver food joint for the students. The very first place to visit if one needs to have dinner or spend some time in the evening. Late Night Celebrations: One of the most famous and continuous traditions in the hostel is midnight birthday celebrations, where friends create unforgettable memories
