Course Curriculum Overview
This curriculum is one the few best developed ones which provides real time problem solving at an actual working facility. The medical college is a part of a tertiary care government hospital to provide , train and allow students to apply the knowledge acquired to utilise to treat the patient under the supervision and guidance of the faculty cum doctors at the hospital. The student feels the pride and responsibility of becoming a doctor and the special attribute the profession holds as a life savior of the society. The curriculum is constantly under modification and scrutiny under the nmc with several reforms over the past decades. Few aspects where more improvement might be done is the more clinical teaching at the initial years of course., which is currently started from 3-4 year. The exams are held often frequently with an internal assessment every 3-4 months followed by a pre- university and university exams each year. The college is provided with a mdern advanced Library with airconditioned seating halls at a capacity exceeding 500 people with books and journals updated from time to time . Admission
The admission is through neet UG score and conselling process regulated by the state government (85% seats) and central government (15 % all india quota). I opted for other medical colleges of madhya pradesh - grmc gwalior, gmc bhopal and ssmc rewa . The college is alloted based on the neet UG score and I opted gmc datia over rewa due to its easy connectivity to other cities, better faculty student ratio and more inclusive and new infrastructure . The college has got a admission process under the dme mp conselling committee based on the neet pg score. The staff is well trained to handle the massage and the admission process is hassle free and helpful for all the new ones at the institution. The cuttoff is variable for each year with and average of following ranks in neet UG exam( as per 2023-24 exam admission) General - 20-25k rank Obc - 22-27k Sc - 40-50k St- 60-80k
Faculty
The faculty to students ratio currently is approx 60-70:1. The faculties are highly experienced and have a integrated approach towards teaching and practical demonstration. The major clinical departments like obstetrics & gynaecology, surgery , orthopaedic etc are provided by great hods . Few departments like pathology , biochemistry etc. are lacking a few facilities like complete staff. Each year is concluded with a professional exam conducted by the mpmsu jabalpur with several internal sessional exams. The exams are well oriented with the subjects with an average passing percentage of 80-85 percentage. ( Min -50% marks required to pass each exam both theory and practical individually.) The course curriculum is well designed with the needs of the current demand of healthcare of the country. Each subject is well versed with theory and practical knowledge with real time patient care at a destinated government hospital to provide the integrity of theoretical knowledge with actual patient care.
