Course Curriculum Overview

5

This curriculum is one the few best developed ones which provides real time problem solving at an actual working facility. The medical college is a part of a tertiary care government hospital to provide , train and allow students to apply the knowledge acquired to utilise to treat the patient under the supervision and guidance of the faculty cum doctors at the hospital. The student feels the pride and responsibility of becoming a doctor and the special attribute the profession holds as a life savior of the society. The curriculum is constantly under modification and scrutiny under the nmc with several reforms over the past decades. Few aspects where more improvement might be done is the more clinical teaching at the initial years of course., which is currently started from 3-4 year. The exams are held often frequently with an internal assessment every 3-4 months followed by a pre- university and university exams each year. The exams hold a difficulty level of above average, making only the ones genuinely preparing for it to pass the exam. The passing percentage is 50 for each exam individually for practical and theoretical exams.

Internships Opportunities

5

The college is provided a compulsory rotatotory intership at the designated hospital of datia district associated with the medical college . The intership is an integral part of the course as under the nmc guidelines. The college is affiliated for various international and national exams like usmle and plan to apply as a doctor in usa and uk .

Fees and Financial Aid

The annual college tution fees is 100000 / year for a 4.5 year mbbs course with a 1 year compulsory rotatotory intership with an average stipend of 13000 /month. Course fees mbbs: First year- 100000 Second year - 100000 Third year- 100000 Fourth year- 100000 The hostel fees is 24000/year . No additional lab fees is applied. ( Fees is subject to mp government guidelines and gets updated from time to time.) During admission a caution money is deposited .( Depends each year on mp government guidelines, ex year 2018- 14000). Students may apply for scholarship programs like medhavi chattra yojana ( tution fees is paid by the government with an extension of one year rural bond post mbbs). For sc/st students post metric scholarship is available.

Campus Life

3

The campus is located at the outskirts of datia town at Srinagar kanyakumari national highway. The college was started in 2018 so the campus and facilities are constantly evolving with each year. The college provides a average campus life with a little scope of extra curricular facilities. The campus lacks professional sports infrastructure. The annual college fest is held each year to provide a chance for students to practicipate in various events. The college is provided with a mdern advanced Library with airconditioned seating halls at a capacity exceeding 500 people with books and journals updated from time to time . The library has a annual compulsory fees of 3000/ year. The college has an integral network with the various students and doctor groups within and outside the state to allow students to become representative as well as members in order to list their problems, benefits and overall become a holistic team with entire community.

Hostel Facilities

4

The college is well equipped with separate hostel facilities for boys and girl students within the campus. The hostel is well provided with all the modern facilities with security and parking space. The room is shared among 2-3 students each provided a separate bed table and chair by the institution. The bathroom are common for each floor which is shared among around 10-15 members. The accommodation rent is updated by the state government ( currently as per 2023-24 admission: 24000/ year with no added charges). The hostel are provided with mess facility ( price varying with tender to the local authorities) The quality of food delivered is average and affordable. The hostel is allotted at the time of admission based on availability of rooms . The student is required to fill a form at the time of admission and abide by the disciplinary rules and guidelines as provided. The hostel is affordable based on the on going rents around the area with no extra electricity and other charges.

Admission

The admission is through neet UG score and conselling process regulated by the state government (85% seats) and central government (15 % all india quota). I opted for other medical colleges of madhya pradesh - grmc gwalior, gmc bhopal and ssmc rewa . The college is alloted based on the neet UG score and I opted gmc datia over rewa due to its easy connectivity to other cities, better faculty student ratio and more inclusive and new infrastructure . The college has got a admission process under the dme mp conselling committee based on the neet pg score. The staff is well trained to handle the massage and the admission process is hassle free and helpful for all the new ones at the institution. The cuttoff is variable for each year with and average of following ranks in neet UG exam( as per 2023-24 exam admission) General - 20-25k rank Obc - 22-27k Sc - 40-50k St- 60-80k

Faculty

4

The faculty to students ratio currently is approx 60-70:1. The faculties are highly experienced and have a integrated approach towards teaching and practical demonstration. The major clinical departments like obstetrics & gynaecology, surgery , orthopaedic etc are provided by great hods . Few departments like pathology , biochemistry etc. are lacking a few facilities like complete staff. Each year is concluded with a professional exam conducted by the mpmsu jabalpur with several internal sessional exams. The exams are well oriented with the subjects with an average passing percentage of 80-85 percentage. ( Min -50% marks required to pass each exam both theory and practical individually.) The course curriculum is well designed with the needs of the current demand of healthcare of the country. Each subject is well versed with theory and practical knowledge with real time patient care at a destinated government hospital to provide the integrity of theoretical knowledge with actual patient care.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The MBBS course curriculum is quite comprehensive and well-structured, covering all the essential aspects of medical science needed for both academic growth and clinical practice. The inclusion of subjects like Anatomy, Physiology, and Biochemistry in the first year builds a strong foundation for understanding the human body and disease mechanisms. The curriculum is relevant as it gradually progresses from basic to clinical subjects, preparing students for real-world medical applications and patient care. Teaching methods such as interactive lectures, practical sessions, dissections, and clinical demonstrations make learning more engaging and concept-based. However, more emphasis on integrated teaching, case-based discussions, and exposure to real clinical settings from the early years would further enhance understanding and application. The frequency and timing of exams are generally well-planned, but sometimes the schedule can feel packed, leaving limited time for conceptual revision. Overall, the curriculum is highly relevant and effective, though incorporating more modern teaching methods, simulation-based learning, and periodic skill assessments could make it even better suited for today’s medical challenges.
