What Students Say
Likes
- The College is really affordable and does not put much burden on the student financially.
- There is a really professional uniform for the students, so the hassle of deciding what to wear everyday is saved. The Uniform is a navy suit with a sky blue shirt.
- There is a training and placement cell which offers internships and training to the students to give them experience and a taste of the corporate work culture.
Dislikes
- There are no clubs or extra curricular activities, apart from a few mundane boring ones.
- There is no fun environment in the college, it feels like a tuition you attend after school.
- The campus is nothing but a building with classrooms, there is no view, no ground, nothing just a building with classrooms and lab in it. There is not even a canteen in the college.
Course Curriculum Overview
The Curriculum is very outdated and apart from a few coding languages, all you need is parrot learning to pass. The Course is only done by many to get the qualification eligibility and get a job. The Skills required in the IT field are to be learnt by yourself through other sources (provided in COCSIT). The Syllabus and Curriculum should be updated and be professional in training students in corporate work culture. There should be focus on communication skills and team building. The frequency and timing of exams is good but the rest as mentioned above is necessary to change to make the course better.
Internships Opportunities
There are many local and well reputed companies offering internships, you can see the list of companies on the official website of COCSIT. The stipend varies from company to company, an ex student got placed in his second year with a package of 10 LPA.
Fees and Financial Aid
College Fee Structure The overall fee structure for the first year at COCSIT is relatively affordable, with a total tuition fee of Rs.21000 for both semesters. However, there are additional costs to consider, including: Exam Fees: Approximately Rs 1000 to Rs 1500 per semester, depending on the type of subjects taken. Registration Fee : A one-time fee of Rs 120 Practical Books: Rs 300 per semester. Penalty for Missed Exams: Rs 20 per missed exam Scholarship Opportunities : The college offers a variety of scholarships to help students offset the cost of tuition and other fees. These scholarships are particularly beneficial for students for SC and ST backgrounds, who may be eligible for reduced fees. Fee Structure for Subsequent Years: The fee structure for the second and third years is similar to the first year, with total tuition fees ranging from Rs 20000 to Rs 21000 for both semesters. While the initial fee structure may seem reasonable, be aware of the additional costs that can accumulate over the course of the year.
Campus Life
There is no college life here, COCSIT is just a building with classrooms and labs, there is not even a canteen or a playground. There is only one annual fest which is below mediocre. There is a library and reading room with adequate books and journals on any course related topic. There is a projector and a computer in every classroom. There are plenty of labs in the college. Sports and extracurricular activities are non existent, there is occassionally a cricket or some other tournament which is not even worth mentionining. No student- run social groups, clubs or student portals to my knowledge in the college, even if there are they are just group chats of friends.
Admission
I applied to all the colleges in Latur that offer the course of BCA such as Dayanand, Baseshwar, Shahu and COCSIT. I got accepted in every college that I applied to but my first preference was COCSIT due to its placement rate of students. I did not get rejected from any college, I scored pretty good in my boards and MAH CET. The admission process for every college in Latur is pretty much the same. They see your CET score which is mandatory in some colleges and your board's percentage. Some colleges like COCSIT do conduct their own entrance test.
Faculty
The faculty to student ratio is 3:100. There is professional guidance from the professors and every single profesor I interacted was helpful and friendly. There are 3 exams before the semester exams namely Unit Test 1, Unit Test 2 and a pre semester exam. There are many class test as well depending on your professor.
