What Students Say
Likes
- The faculties for my course are highly supportive and knowledgeable. They know what they teach. The skills we are learning feel very authentic and helpful.
- The active nature of the committees and varieties of committees for everyone.
- Good canteen food and maintenance of hygiene.
Dislikes
- That it is an all girls college and a very small campus.
- The infrastructure is not special and the area is too small. It has one lawn and one stage connected to the lawn. We don’t have a big auditorium but several small auditoriums for some reason.
- Events aren’t held that much, but if they are, they’re held in broad daylight, never in the evening or at night.
Course Curriculum Overview
Considering jewellery design isn't a very popular field, it can be said that it is going to be in high demand in coming years. Seeing the demand of jewellery designers slowly go up, I chose to get into this field as more or less, it is a promising career option. The techniques we are taught are very thorough and we are frequently made to practice those to be sure of the skills. One thing the faculties can work on is to not spoon feed everything to us and let us face the difficulties on our own. Also, the exams are not very difficult and the teachers are kind enough to add extra marks.
Fees and Financial Aid
I'm in the first year right now and the total fees of 2 semesters is 97500 INR. This sum includes (first semester): Tuition fees- 36300 INR Admission fees- 500 INR Univ. Enc. fees- 1000 INR Security- 2000 INR Practicals fees- 7200 INR Computer fees- 3000 INR Examination fees- 6500 INR These extra charges are required to be paid once only during the new semester. Particularly Jewellery Design course consists of 6 semesters (3 years). The tuition fees for second semester- 30000 INR All these costs total upto 292500 INR (rounded up 300000) for 3 years. Additionally, you are eligible for scholarship if your 12th percentage was above 89%.
Campus Life
Events are held every now and then. The con is that they are never scheduled for the evening. One big event we have is COSMOS. It happens in February and is typically a fair kind of event with food, music, etc. which goes on for three days. We have two big libraries and number of computer labs. Sports sector is very active and they sometimes practice throughout the day. A lot of sports are present in campus. We have couple of committees. For eg.- Rotaract, theatre, etc. They're all pretty active and do hold activities and events for the members on a regular basis.
Admission
I got into Nift Kangra & Srinagar, but it was impossible to be present there the very next day because of no direct connectivity present. So, I had to pass the opportunity and search for colleges near me. Keeping the fees and course in mind, IISU is what best suited us. The admission process here is also incredibly easy and you don't have to give any kind of exam or test.
Faculty
Exams are held semester wise. The class strength for my course is 5, less but good considering we all get personalised attention from the teachers. We have 4 teachers for different subjects. They are very humble and helpful and never refrain from guiding us.
Other Applied Colleges
National Institute of Fashion Technology - [NIFT] | Bachelor of Design [B.Des] (Accessory Design)
I wasn’t able to go to nift because i was expected there the very next day and indirect connectivity made it impossible.
