Remarks

The college is average and facilities provided are good. The management of the college is below average as their is no student body to talk directly to the management.

Entrance Preview

The infrastructure of college is good and the facilities provided are also above average. The college is rated A+ by DG Shipping India and A grade by NAAC. This college has ship-in campus which provides excellent practical knowledge. Also as this college is situated in chennai hence it gives great job opportunities in shipping industry.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

The course offers a experience which is unique in its sense. We are taught to run the machinery on the ship. The course curriculum is very interesting as it deals with Ships. The subject which are taught are the Stability of ship, seamanship, Marine Diesel Engines ,etc. In my opinion the course is very unique and offers a very good and unique job.

Internships Opportunities

No our do not offer any internship. In marine field their are very less scope of internship as we have to be well taught and engineered to go on ship.

Placement Experience

0.5

Placement in our particular department in not so good. We are offered jobs in Supply Vessel with average starting salary of 10000. But the job opportunities of the course is good. There are many companies who conduct examination and one we clear all the exams and interviews then we will have a well settled job.

College Events

2.5

Every year a separate marine symposium is held in which students from every marine college in chennai participate. The event include paper presentation, quiz , pipeline tracing, debate, etc. Each year cultural fest in held which includes competition such as singing , dancing, drama, etc.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure of college is less compared to other marine colleges. We are charged 2.2 lac each year which includes tuition fee, hostel fee, mess fee, laundry fee, uniform fee, gym and swimming charge, boating charge. The charges are feasible except for mess charge which is 58000 per year.

Fees and Financial Aid

Toppers are provided scholarship. College claims that they help in availing loan but according to my experience they just provide the necessary documentation and then you are on your own.

Campus Life

4.5

Campus life is average. There are various sports we can play. There is a swimming pool and gym which is not very well maintained. Gender ratio in marine department in very bad as very less girls opt for marine courses. All the labs necessary are provided but not very well maintained.

Hostel Facilities

2.5

Hostel facilities are average. The infrastructure is good. The toilet and rooms are well maintained. Every week are clothes are washed by a laundry man. Clean drinking water is provided. Mess food is very bad. We mostly rely on canteen food. The food in mess is hygienic but taste very bad.

Alumni/Alumna

Alumni network of college is very weak. We keep in touch with our graduated senior and seek their guidance.

Exam Structure

In one semester we have to write 3 internal examination. There are many quick tests also conducted by the teachers. Each month we have to write 14 exam on average, so this make schedule very hectic. Lab exam are conducted twice in a semester. Semester exams are conducted in college itself and the exams are very difficult to pass.

Admission

I wrote IMU-CET examination which is approved by DG Shipping India. I got 120/180 marks in entrance exam and during counseling I was alloted this college on my merit based. After result I had to go through medical examination in which i was declared fit for sea. The minimum requirement for 12th board is 60+ in PCM which I full filled.

Faculty

4

The faculty of the college is average. In our department there are two Chief Engineers who have 30+ years experience on sea and they are very good at their teaching. Other faculty includes are average and have a good experience. There are few part time faculty who are also good.

Placement Experience:

Students can join job drives from the 7th term. Many firms visit the campus for jobs and offer roles in tech and other fields. The pay varies by firm and role. EEC has a good job rate and gives help for job prep. After my degree, I plan to work in the tech field and grow my skills.

Placement Experience:

Students are open to campus placements from 2nd year onwards. There are many companies who visit such as Delloite, Accenture, Cognizant, TCS, Amazon, NatWest, Nokia, etc. Highest package offered is 42 lpa and lowest is maybe 2-4lpa. Around 90% of students get placed here. My plans is to get a job through campus recruitment. Currently I got an internship through campus recruitment in Cognizant so the recruitment is quite nice here.

Placement Experience:

One thing I really need to appreciate at CIT is its placement training program. The placement team conducts regular sessions on 1. aptitude 2. coding 3. communication skills 4. group discussions and 5. interview preparation which helped me feel more confident during placements. The trainers were friendly and always encouraged us to improve our skills step by step. They provide continuous guidance and feedback throughout the training process. Mock interviews and one to one assessments helped me to understand my strength and weak areas and I work on improvements . These sessions not only improved my technical and communication skills but also boosted my confidence . The placement training team played an important role in preparing me for career opportunities and industry expectation

They focus heavily on communication , technical knowledge and competitive preparation ,align students with what top companies expect ,and contiuosly push us to improve and meet industry standards. Their structured training helped me to clearly identify my strengths and work on my weak areas, which made a huge difference during interviews and boosted my overall confidence. The department faculty are equally commnedable ,knowledgable ,approachable and genuinely invested in student career. Overall CIT is an excellent choice for anyone focused on building a strong and sucessful career
