Course Curriculum Overview

3

I chose commerce in school hence i chode bcom for further studies to go for commerce field. The curriculum prepares us for real world applications or further academic pursuits but guidance, councelling classes and notifying us of updates They can get a few updates in infrastructure and facilities like projector or smart boards to make teaching more advanced, class updations are very much required as there's very less lighting in other classes. The exams were frequent. Two mid semester exams before the final ones. Class tests, oral tests in two weeks. Hence we only required a quick revision before finals.

Fees and Financial Aid

The prices were lower before the pandemic but it increased during the pandemic because of obvious reasons. Otherwise there's no regular hikes in fee. Overall charges per semester was 20000 approx. Yearly it was 40000. I'm not sure about scholarships but students get a amount of refund money at the end of each year who claimed for it at the time of admission. There were no placements and internship programmes were not as good. Only 2 companies came for internship programme and the work was to sell policies which only paid 3-5k. That's it. So internship and placements are shitty in here.

Campus Life

0.5

There were no fests organized in the college. Never. Not a single one. They just organisze dance competition in which they don't promote western dance not even hip hop. Only bhangra gidda and luddi. I understand the importance of promoting their own culture. I get it. But they should also bring some new stuffs as well rather than being orthodoxy and saying 'these things are not allowed in campus' as if hip hop is some kinda vulgar dance. There's nss and photography club which active whenever they want. It isn't actually of any help, only effective club is NCC. Books are very outdated and torn available in the library which looks like it belongs to 1920s. Dusts and cobwebs literally. Sometimes the books are available. And maximum books there are useless. Only the commerce department is new made hence it is clean. No technological provisions available in classrooms. Just a single board and benches. That's it. No sports participation. That's it.

Admission

Eligibility requirement was percentage above 50% in boards that's it. A form is to be filled in the official Punjabi University website after that within three days admission confirmation notification will be given and the fee is to be paid within 24 hours of the confirmation of admission. The admission process details are available in the official website, college campus and advertisements in the area. Reservation might be available for the category people. We have two mid semester exams before the commencement of end semester exams. The mid semester starts after two months of class. Then the class goes on. After a week, mid sem 2 starts within after 2 weeks of mid sem, final semester exams are started. The question paper in made from Punjabi University. The difficulty level ranges from medium to difficult. If admision staff would be willing to cooperate or gelp out the students then it will be easier for people to get admission in the college.

Faculty

There was one teacher for a class strength of 60 and the teacher could handle each and everyone accordingly hence it didn't put a bad impact on us. They pushed every student to interact with others. They tried to put good exposure on every student in class participation. I'm a very introverted person but one of my teacher made me participate in a few competitions i was scared to participate in. But participation helped me a lot. It was a great experience, i learned a lot, learned creativity, made new friends, got a chance to showcase my talent as well. Every teacher tried to make every student comfortable in the class. I often interacted with the teachers. Maximum teachers were good, gave good guidance and very helping.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The core circular is moderately relevant but lens more forward theory than the practical application code, subject cover, fundamental concept and providing a base, but there is limited focus on industrial skill project work, coding or case studies which affect real world redness. Elective options are few restricting subject choice. The labour is mostly fake and really updated making it less aligned with the current industry. Trends exams are conducted twice a year medicine and M with internal contributing about 30% of the mark the frequency naval but timing of clashes with the critical session level is moderate theory tends to focus on road learning rather than the critical thinking. Overall the circular needs to more practical exposure, updated content and flexibility to prepare student for employment or higher studies.

Placement Experience:

From the 5th semester students become eligible for campus placement as after completing the sixth semester they can apply for the available vacancies. The companies which visited a college for placement are Flipkart Zomato Axis Bank etc. These companies gave many offers to the students to apply for the job, the best ones are selected. Highest package given to a student is 5lakhs Annual. To the student who had much quality 70% of students in the college get placements after they complete their studies. My plan after getting the degree is to apply for a job in a bank or to look for any government sector to work in.

Admission:

The admissions are purely based on merit. The eligibility criteria is a student must have passed INTERMEDIATE WITH 40% FOR GENERAL AND OBC, SC/ST -33% MARKS. There is no Interview and the total number of seats intake are 80. The admission process is quite straightforward and lucid. I chose B.com because it provides a broad scope of employment options and job scope for graduates as a large number of B.Com graduates choose to pursue self-employment or land lucrative salary packages in prestigious companies.

Starting off with the negative effects of attending college. Tuition has skyrocketed over the years leaving college students thousands of dollars in debt right out of high school, since many people cannot afford to fully pay their schooling off. Going in that much debt is a huge benefactor of people attending college because many people just cannot afford it.

A few negative effects are debt, partying, sexual assault, missing family and friends, and stress. Positive effects are he/she gets a degree, makes new friends, becomes more diverse, most likely gets a good job after graduating, and helps he/she to become more independent and grow as an individual.
