What Students Say
Likes
- Firstly, I like that the college does listen to its students for any kind of needs like infrastructure and opportunities.
- The faculties over here are really very helpful, especially from my branch who even help us in preparation of other competitive examinations.
- The campus life is also good. No signs of ragging and we had a friendly connection with our seniors which helped us a lot. Also that the campus is really beautiful.
Dislikes
- The first thing I dislike about our college is for its infrastructure. It needs improvement.
- Even though we have enough learning facility, still there are some cons like some of our professors and not much good in teaching which creates a problem.
- Problems are also with the conduct of different events. Not many cultural clubs are present in the college which creates a boredom for the students and that some hiddens gems aren't discovered.
Course Curriculum Overview
Since my childhood, I was always intrigued with machines and especially, cars. I had always wanted to pursue a course which would help me live my dream of working with a car industry. And this led me to opt for mechanical engineering. Of course, mechanical engineering has always helped in moulding the world in a way we see now. Moreover our college conducts special industrial visits which help us a lot in understanding today's practicality. The faculties in our course (except a few) are of top notch. They have gained a lot of experiences which they now pass on to us in a very smooth way which is very easy to wrap around our head. The timings and frequency of examinations are less compared to other colleges which help us with an ample time for self studies.
Internships Opportunities
Internship opportunities is also available in our college which the placement cell help us with. Students are readily offered internships if they want to. One the company that I worked with was JP Research which is road accident research facility. I was offered with a position of a crash investigator where I used to investigate road accidents and reports were created to help with the RnD departments of different car companies and also that we helped the traffic police department. I worked with them for about a month and I received 5000 rupees as stipend.
Placement Experience
Our college conducts various job fairs in which companies like TCS, JCB, Bosch etc visits us, offering jobs. Students can get placed after the commencement of their 3rd year. Additional placement training is offered to us which helps us a lot in acquiring jobs. The highest package received by the students of our college is of 72 lacs per annum with an average salary of 5 lac per annum. Many students achieve multiple job offers and majority of students gets placed. My plans are to prepare for competitive examinations like GATE to get placed in a PSU.
Fees and Financial Aid
Tuition fees have increased in recent times which has now turned to be 50000 per semester. However it's still justified to the quality of course gained and also that it is low compared to other private colleges. The complete cost for my course is 380000 in 4 years and additional 2000 per semester for the examination fees. I have opted for hostel which charges 40000 per semester. Students get additional scholarship who have passed their boards which a percentage of 80% and higher. Also that our university conducts an entrance examination which is IEMJEE through which students can reduce their tuition fees with a significant amount. The authorities also aids the education of some students who have a nominal background.
Campus Life
Fests do take place with a number of other events held. Our college do our efforts and look into the matter of extra curricular which is appreciable. The fests and clubs are managed by the students of our college . Sports fest and techfests are held . Though enough infrastructure is not present for a mechanical engineering student, library is present in our college which a absolutely furnished with books and journals. Accessibility is quite easy for the students.
Hostel Facilities
Since I opted for a hostel, I guess the facilities provided are nice. Laundries twice weekly, which is free. Water cooler, solar heater for the winters. The lavatory is cleaned everyday and even our rooms are cleaned weekly. Most importantly the food is quite good actually (which is shocking I know but true). Non veg is available everyday with chicken and eggs in alternate days in dinner. The registration for the hostel is very easy which was taken care at the time of admission. In addition to that, rented accommodation are readily available just outside the college campus which makes it very convenient.
Admission
I was granted admission with my boards result. Hence it was quite easy for me to get admission. University gives an entrance examination named IEMJEE ,though I didn't take it. The application form and other details are readily found on Google on the website of the college. The college conducts 2 midterm examination between the semesters and the difficulty level is subjective. I don't find any improvement in the admission process to to be added since it's quite easy and the administration helps a lot with that process.
Faculty
The faculty to student ratio is in a good proportion where we can all learn in a healthy environment and in a very understandable manner. Even though for teaching, qualification is not required , our professors are qualified enough and in addition to that, the successfully mend us and help us a lot individually. Hence the interaction and the approachability is top notch.
Other Applied Colleges
Vellore Institute of Technology - [VIT University] | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Mechanical Engineering)
The course fees was much higher , hence it was not a suitable option for me.
