Remarks
I had a very good experience in this college, as they were not just focusing on bright minds but they also tried their level best in bringing the best out of everyone. They were always motivating us to take part in various activities be it debates, cultural fests or any other extra curricular activites.
Entrance Preview
This course (PGDBM) provided a detailed overview of various aspects of management, which complimented my existing experience, making my profile more attractive to recruiters which in turn offered me job with a higher package.
Course Curriculum Overview
Curriculum was a balanced mixture of practical and theoretical components. With each subject their was a practical approach attached to it, which made learning more easier and interesting. My elective was marketing, and along with theory there was often some practical exercises done in between or after the completion of class. Esp on different tools of marketing.
Internships Opportunities
No, there was no internship for PGDBM. They may be having it for other courses. They used to help us in getting placements for 2 months project training in various companies.
Placement Experience
They were very active in arranging job fests in our college. Also they were facilitating students in going to job fests organised by other colleges. Placement committee was formed with a mixture of students and staff members, which worked together proactively in arranging interviews from different companies. Packages varied in different companies, with the highest package being 6 lacs p.a.
College Events
There were various events organised through out the year, which included national level seminars, annual cultural fest "Roshaan", various competitions, group discussions, personality development classes by renowned guest faculties, fests with national level celebrities as chief guests.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Considering the large number of big colleges in its vicinity, Chitkara, Gian sagar to name a few, its fee structure is feasible and comparatively less expensive than its counter parts, I finished my PGDBM in under 2 lacs while other colleges were asking 2.5 lacs for the same course.
Fees and Financial Aid
There were loan facilities for students. Some of my batchmates had taken loan from bank of india, which had partnered with our college for offering educational loan at very attractive price.
Campus Life
Campus life was full of activities along with regular classes, their were road shows, debates, quiz, cultural fests and many other activities going on through out the year. Girls slightly outweighed boys in strength. Regular competitions were organised and they made sure that everyone participates atleast once!
Hostel Facilities
Hostel facilities were average, so was the canteen facilities. There was not much variety of food available in the canteen, often we had to order maggi or dal chawal for lunch. Hostel rooms didnt had ACs or cooler, hence staying there was very difficult during summers.
Alumni/Alumna
Our seniors were very kind and helping, they were always ready to help us whenever we required. Be it curricular or extra curricular. Infact we are still in touch with them even now.
Exam Structure
There were sessionals two times in a semester followed by final exams. There were frequent surprise tests, initially we were mostly caught unawares, but gradually we got ourselves prepared, which helped us score better each semester. Which ever subject we scored less, we were told to do a presentation on that subject in next 2-3 days.
Admission
Saw its advertisement in newspaper, being one of the fastest growing B-School in north india, it quickly got my attention. On enquiring the given number, I was pleasantly greeted by the person, He satisfied all my queries regarding the courses offered, and infact guided me on which course to take. On reaching the campus, I easily got admission form from reception, and there was staff deployed to assisst us in the entire process, starting from filling form, to getting our documents photocopied, after a small written exam, their was a brief interview with the chairman of the college which I later realized was the same person who guided me over phone!
Faculty
Each faculty was experienced and highly qualified with some of them had even done their Phd. Faculty was very cooperative and were never tired of repeating same thing again and again till we were well versed with that topic. They often use to test us by asking questions related to their previous classes, which made us to study before attending the class. Though they used to bring ppts for their classes, they used it less frequently as they use to go in depth of the topic.
