Remarks

St. John's College continues to be one of the prestigious colleges in Agra due to its studies, extra curricular activities and strict management.

Entrance Preview

There was no entrance exam in the year 1989 when I opted for this college. This was one of the most prestigious colleges in Agra and had a great reputation because of its lecturers and its studies.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

B.Com (H) was a extensive curriculum with many subjects including Economics, Accounts, Law, Income Tax, Commercial Mathematics and Statistics to name a few.

Internships Opportunities

I did not opt for internship. However, some of my friends did go for the same. They got good support from the college for the same. The average stipend offered during those years was Rs.3000/- per month.

Placement Experience

2.5

We did not have good placement opportunities during our college days. There were not much opportunities at that time for us to grab.

College Events

3.5

Our college used to organize several events across the year. We had sports events organized along with many cultural and educational competitions including debates, etc.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fees were very nominal compared to what we see now in some of the private colleges. Our college also offered scholarships to deserving students basis their performance.

Fees and Financial Aid

I did not avail any scholarship facility, however, there were several scholarship options available for deserving students, which were sponsored by some noted Alumni.

Campus Life

4.5

All such extracurricular activities organized by the colleges are a good source of gaining experience in management. The students get the opportunity to manage and organize these programs.

Hostel Facilities

3

Although, I was not using the hostel facilities of our college, we had good hostel accommodations available for outstation candidates. Separate hostels were available for girls and boys, with strict rules.

Alumni/Alumna

It is great feeling to be part of the Alumni network and interact with current students. They seek guidance on several issues and we give them advise based on our real life experiences.

Exam Structure

We had six semesters across the three year program and exams would happen every six months for each semester.

Faculty

4.5

The Head of the Deptt of Statistics and Economics were one of the most reputed faculties and had authored several books on their subjects. We were fortunate to have them as our lecturers.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum is more inclined towards a theoretical side and lacks practical exposure. In the present scenario, having practical knowledge is a must if you want to survive in the industry, which my college didn't prepare me for. However, there are various opportunities across the campus. We have AIC inside the campus, which may offer an internship to the students if they reach out to them.

After 4th semester the students are eligible for campus placements. Many companies are visited in our college for job offers like frankfin, hcl, tcs, Barclays, hdfc, and many more. The company offers job by considering the students as a freshers thus it offers very average package for students but if the performance of students Is good in that company, then it may chance that they hire for higher post with high package. But at starting they offer atleast 2,50,000/- to 3,00,000 per annum.
