A review of my college - Silicon Institute of Technology, Sambalpur

Silicon Institute of Technology, Sambalpur is a private engineering college affiliated with BPUT Rourkela. This college was established in 2009. The college provides engineering B.tech courses in several branches like Civil, Mechanical, CSE, ECE, and EE. I joined this college in 2021 through OJEE counseling and the application process was very smooth. The college is located in Sason subdistrict 16 km away from Sambalpur city and the college provides transportation facilities for all the day borders, pick-ups for hostels, and for outing purposes also. The course fees of the college are about 95000 with hostel fees of 33000. The campus area is about 45 acres. The college provides good placements with internships opportunities to all branches. The college has various clubs like literacy club, robotics club, coding club etc.

I choose CSE because it is in my area of interest. And silicon institute of technology provides good education in the CSE branch. Here the teacher's students ratio is 1:5. All the faculty members are well qualified with either M.tech or Ph.D. Every semester 2 unit exams are conducted and the difficulty is moderate.

Students are offered great internship offers with a stipend. Faculties keep informing students about new offers and opportunities. Students from all branches avail of this offer. Companies like The Sparks Foundation, Mindtree, etc provide internships.

At the start of the 5th semester, students are given pre-placement training, and after the 6th-semester students are ready to crack placements. Almost all students are hired by companies during their 4th year. Companies like TCS, Wipro, Accenture, Mindtree, Amazon, etc visit the campus every year. The average package offered is 5.8 LPA and the highest package is 12 LPA. Students are also trained for exams like GATE, CAT, etc.

The course fee is 95000 with 33000 extra if joining as a hosteler. The college provides financial assistance to backward class students. Also, the institute keeps informing students about the latest scholarships.

The college holds an annual technical fest called TechStacy and an annual cultural fest known as Zreyas each year after the end of even semester. The campus also has various clubs like a literary club, dance and music club, robotics club, and coding club. The library has more the 20000 books. Every year an annual sport is held in the middle of the year.

The institute provides separate hostels for boys and girls. Food quality is average and the college has a cafeteria where students can purchase snacks items. Every 2nd and 4th Sunday, biriyani is prepared in the canteen. Hostels accommodation is 3 people per room.
