Entrance Preview

I took IBSAT entrance exam. Score was 70+ and hence was asked to appear for further rounds at IBS Hyderabad. I had freshly graduated in B.Tech and got selected in this College and found it to be one of the best options at that point of time.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

The course structure was good enough with Case Studies. The curriculum was driven by the University of Dehradun and it was comprising of 8 subjects in a semester. In the second year, one is supposed to go for specialization in particular subjects. However dual specialization was not an option; hence one subject was major and another was minor.

Internships Opportunities

Yes, it does provide internship with stipends as well. The average stipend can be considered as Rs.4000/-. Companies included Vodafone, Coke, SBI, ICICI, Barista, CCD, AAyuja Technology etc.

Placement Experience

4

Placements and job opportunities are decent enough. However, the majority were placed in to 4-5 companies only and the rest are among the rest. Average package used to be around 5.5 Lac. Major recruiters were as follows ICICI Bank - 6.5 Lac, Deloitte - 6 Lac, TCS - 7.2 Lac, E&Y - 8 Lac, Future First - 7.5 Lac, WNS Global - 5.5 Lac, HCL Tech, HDFC etc.

College Events

4.5

Being in management institute itself opens door for many cultural and management fests within college or outside. Here in IBS B, the following were the major events where I always had taken part actively in almost all of them. They might not be of big scale, but there used to be one event which was Inter College Management Fest where all other colleges used to join in.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure was quite expensive which was 8.5 Lac and hence return on investment was achievable. This was only the course fee excluding hostel fees and food. The total expense for 2 years would end up at around 12-13 Lac which is considerably very high compared to what you get.

Fees and Financial Aid

Both scholarship and loan facility was offered by the college. Scholarship: If a student is scoring more than 8 CGPA, then they were entitle for a scholarship amount of around 20k. Similarly more than 8.5 CGPA could earn them 30k, more than 9- 40k and more than 9.5 would fetch 50k per semester.

Campus Life

4.5

The campus life was not wow, but yes! we did enjoy in our time. I personally am satisfied with my MBA life during those 2 years. Gender ration would be 60:40 (Male: Female) Parties, Workshops, Cultural Societies did not used to exist then, but it's currently there. Students diversity was definitely there as students from across India had taken admission in our batch.

Hostel Facilities

4

There was no hostel inside college premise at our time, but now they have a different premise with hostel facilities. There used to be hostels near by the college and there were majorly 4-5 of them where most of the student were residing in. Usually a room was shared by 2 members and they used to charge around 60k per semester for the same. Near by apartment rentals used to be around 10-15k per month.

Alumni/Alumna

Yes, the alumni network is quite strong for ICFAI and it does help in placements or other seminars/talks. We used to share good rapport with the seniors and hence it further cultivated the way forward.

Exam Structure

Exams were mostly conducted within a week's time. Some days used to have one paper and some with 2 papers in a day. Honestly, we are so used to this process that this doesn't seem hectic and moreover, it's better to chill out post your exams instead in between.

Faculty

3.5

College faculty was decent and there were some visiting faculties from IIMs as well. However, in some of the subjects, the faculties were not as per standard, but overall it was not bad either. Marketing was one of the strong subjects in IBS-B due to its faculties and visiting faculties. There were mixed range of faculties available with qualifications such as Ph.D/M.Phil/BA/MA/BE/PGDM (IIM)/FICWA/LLB.

Course structure was good as everything was done in a systematic way. Best thing I learnt from college is that I got to meet new people and get chance to communicate with them by which I believe to some extent my English was improved.
