Remarks

I applied for all the government colleges of my state through the state counseling procedure and I was fortunate enough to get admission to Gandhi medical college Bhopal. I was a student admitted through the state quota of counseling which comprises 85% of the total seats of the batch. Talking about the admission criterion of our college it is totally based on the state rank you got in the NEET examination for GEN/OBC candidates it's around state rank 350 on which you can get admission in the college for EWS category it's 450 ranks at which you can get admission in this college minimum age limit criteria for the admission is below 25 years of age and above 17 years of age. Counseling for admission is through two procedures: all India quota counseling and the other one states quota counseling. All India quota has got a reservation of15% of all seats and the rest is filled via state counseling procedure which is for native state students. Counseling procedure is available on the web.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

MBBS was my passion and my dream from a very young age that's why I decided to go to one of the best medical colleges and that is the reason why I chose Gandhi medical college to pursue MBBS. Faculties student ratio is good, it's around 20:1 which is very good according to a medical college. All faculties have done at least post-graduation and are very well versed in teaching. Term exams were taken after completion of every topic and were not that easy to qualify. The main exams are held three times a year. Then comes the final examination, which is very tough to qualify for it contains practicals and theory of the whole year and internal and external assessments.

Fees and Financial Aid

As it is a government medical college its fee is just 1lakh per year which is very low as compared to other private medical colleges but for the students willing for scholarships many scholarship programs are going on like 1) Sambal Card Yojna in which students with a Sambal Card need not pay any fee. 2) Medhavi Yojna in this Yojna student with 75% or more marks in 12th need to pay any fee. 3) post metric scheme:- in this scheme students with household income, less than 4 lakh need not pay any fee. Many schemes are available to help the students about which they can ask anytime at student section of college they are very helpful. But in return, all Yojnas students have to do jobs for the government for one or two years depending on the scholarship program they choose.

Campus Life

4.5

The college conducts various functions from time to time one is a college fest held per year and small functions take place regularly and also junior doctors association conducts a special JDA night for students. Sports complexes are built on college campuses and a nice playground is present for tennis and badminton and cricket. Sports competitions ate held every January and students are very excited about them. Students are very active in the times of COVID they ran groups to help people in need they named it the medico emergency group and also started a phone line to help patients in need. Also, interns and several students pursuing post-graduation gave free consultation on phone to patients in need in these tough times. We the students of GMC also ran a helpline for plasma donation.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The MBBS course curriculum is quite comprehensive and well-structured, covering all the essential aspects of medical science needed for both academic growth and clinical practice. The inclusion of subjects like Anatomy, Physiology, and Biochemistry in the first year builds a strong foundation for understanding the human body and disease mechanisms. The curriculum is relevant as it gradually progresses from basic to clinical subjects, preparing students for real-world medical applications and patient care. Teaching methods such as interactive lectures, practical sessions, dissections, and clinical demonstrations make learning more engaging and concept-based. However, more emphasis on integrated teaching, case-based discussions, and exposure to real clinical settings from the early years would further enhance understanding and application. The frequency and timing of exams are generally well-planned, but sometimes the schedule can feel packed, leaving limited time for conceptual revision. Overall, the curriculum is highly relevant and effective, though incorporating more modern teaching methods, simulation-based learning, and periodic skill assessments could make it even better suited for today’s medical challenges.

There is a great placement and internship opportunity in my college. After completing the internship of one year. You get a stipend of around 15,000 per month and after completing internship, you get placed either in the government hospitals or in the private hospital where the salary varies around 60000 to 70000 per month.
