Remarks
I applied for DU College- Delhi School of Journalism (DSJ) and my rank was 138 and I did not get selected. Then, I applied for JIMS and I was called for an entrance test and I went to give it. There was no fee for the entrance test. Minimum Marks were not an issue for the entrance test. You just needed to fill a form. The age was as in you should be 12th pass. After the entrance test within 5 to 6 days, I got a call from the college telling me that I got the admission and I was shortlisted.
Course Curriculum Overview
I choose the college because I got to know that the Journalism Department was great from the sources. When I got to the college I was stunned to see that it was the truth. The Faculty is too much understanding and supportive. The student and Faculty have a bond like parents and even friends. The teachers are highly qualified with a lot of experience and knowledge. They are there to help you in all the manner they can. There are two terms of exams in a semester that is 6 months. They are Internal Exam and External Exams. You can clear both the examinations if you take just the lectures. This is my personal experience. There is no need for the extra study if you are present in the lectures s the teachers make the lectures so interesting and easy to remember and recall.
Internships Opportunities
The internship opportunities are great. The college gives in all to help the students get the internship in the field they like. Students have been placed under newspaper and online news channel Rajmangal Times (you can find it on Facebook). The channel has over 100k followers. The stipend depends upon the company and the skill of the student. The college tries its best to place the student somewhere where he can get the stipend.
Placement Experience
Students are eligible for jobs after the 5th semester. Students can do internships after the 4th semester itself to get experience. Other details are not known to me as I am still pursuing and I am in the 5th semester.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee structure is quite okay like the other private colleges. So, for the even semester, it is 60,000 rs and for odd semester it is Rs 66,500. The financial assistance is done by helping the student and asking him to pay the fees in installments rather than paying it at one time. The college provides you with internships and the stipend of the internship depends upon your skill.
Campus Life
Okay, so the social life is amazing. I think the words will fall short to describe the amazing time I have in college although Covid has ruined it all. There is an annual fest called VERVE and it has celebrity star nights on two days. Last year singer Jass Manak and stand-up comedian Anubhav Singh Bassi came and just made the event worth it. The fest has many small events where the students can showcase their skills and talents. There is a huge library with all the facilities like Alumni Projects, Question Papers, All kinds of books and magazines of all genres. For the students excelling in sports, there is a special Sports Week which is organized in the college. There are all types of clubs ranging from Cultural to Sports to which you can join and upgrade your skills. The classrooms have the utmost amazing facilities to ensure comfort. There are Air Conditioners and Smart Boards all available.
