Remarks
My sister had completed her BBA course from this college. She briefed me about this college in this way - CMS is not just a college but a bridge to the real world providing a plethora of opportunities to explore. Being a part of the fest team, actively participating in toastmasters, or working for Yuva NGO would be a golden opportunity for anyone. There are also various other club associations to learn from - at least one for everyone's interest. But all these opportunities would be waste, go to vain if one doesn't make use of them. If one gives their best: these opportunities are really great and will help in bringing the best of oneself and transform your personality. Dual Programs are not nice and most of them are unable to complete. College fees are very high. This year we even did not get our scholarship. Also, there is no canteen facility, no good restaurants nearby, no big auditorium. The choice of electives and syllabus is also not nice. Too many blended learning assignments are given.
Course Curriculum Overview
BBA is a course that teaches you about management in general and also in fields of finance, HR, Marketing, etc. The 1st semester was completely the same as the 11 &12th portions. The course does not cover topics in deep like in fields like corporate law or accounts. Some subjects are amazing but they are only for 1st sem like current affairs which I believe should be in every sem while some subjects are really not nice. Even the choice of electives is not nice. Most of the Dual Programs are not at all good. The blended learning methodology that CMS use is not much nice as it does not touch the real practical activities. One good thing is that they keep a lot of workshops and talks. The faculty is good in terms of qualifications and great in terms of support. But not all teachers teach properly. Most of them are not so nice in explaining and clearing doubts. But one thing that's positive is that most of them keep open discussions and encourage them to ask questions.
Internships Opportunities
From the start of 2nd year, students are asked to start their internships. In 1st year, the timing of college is somewhere in the afternoon to evening (11:30 am to 4 pm) But during the 2nd year the timings are much better - in the morning, the classes end by 1 pm. So this allows us to manage our time and take an internship after 1. CMS has kept this option open to various things like internships through companies suggested by college, outside internships not provided by the college, family business, NGOs, own startup/ business, etc., and some exemption for sports. Sometimes you don't get any stipend during internships but generally, it is somewhere near Rs 5000 per month. You can also get up to Rs 15,000 per month. You can also get benefits like traveling expense reimbursement or canteen reimbursements. Also, the faculty is supportive of students. But there is a lack of proper communication regarding such things and not so good response to the confusion that students have.
Placement Experience
Placements from CMS are good. Various companies recruit people passing from CMS for various jobs. The placements of CMS are similar to other good colleges. But it completely depends on person, company, and situation. In the 3rd year, the students are also given the training to get ready to enter the corporate/ business world and for better placements - training regarding professional way, interviews, and resume building, etc. I am not sure but I guess the average package from CMS would be anywhere between Rs 45,000 to Rs 60,000 per month.
Fees and Financial Aid
CMS has extremely high fees even when it doesn't have any of the campus facilities like its own sports ground, big auditorium, or even basic canteen. Also getting a scholarship is very difficult as to what I have heard. Because this year they did not conduct any test for scholarships and no one got one. Even during this year of Covid when everything was online, the college even did not pay a bit of attention to reduce fees. They demand such huge fees but they did not even care to respond to our requests. Moreover when some students started to argue they responded very rudely and unprofessionally. Also, the schedule of payment of fees is improper. They had started to ask for fees for the second year just after the first half of the second sem (In 1 year we have 2 sems). They also asked us to pay exam fees. Internships and Placement from Campus are not so great, they are just average.
Campus Life
There are multiple management, cultural, and media fests that CMS organizes. Key fests are Precipice, Threshold, Protege, Lasya, Melange, Abhinaya, The Fundamentalist, and many more. CMS also provides many opportunities for infesting but one needs to actively participate and be a part of fest teams. CMS encourages to take part in various external fests. There are many extracurricular activities provided. Speaking about sports there is no sports ground but there are some arrangements made for sports activities. Yet I guess CMS is not much into sports. To get more info on these, you can visit the Instagram page @jucms_studentcouncil
Admission
Interviews and Entrance Test - Desire to learn and explore
Interview Experience
The college tried its best to make the admission process smoother. There was a written test that was conducted online this year. It was followed by a Personal interview after some days. The written test had a separate section that tests our understanding and how well we are updated with news. Some sections are like general knowledge, current affairs. In a personal interview, what any college looks for is whether we have a desire to learn or not. In an interview, it is important to be your own self.
