Remarks
College Management I would say has really lost a great opportunity of transforming this gem of a college into a great hub of technology the infighting, strife, etc. has actually led to the decline of the college.
Entrance Preview
UP State Engineering Admission test rank above 1000 As i was not getting any good Govt. College i.e. HBTI Kanpur, IET Lucknow or Pantnagar out of the existing 7 at that time, I preferred this college due to the following reasons: 1. Location - Noida had started to turn into cyber and electronic hub at that time and this would have given me good exposure with the industry, Size of the College - PCCS had only two branches i.e. CS & EC. So the focus was more onto the technology, One of the oldest private engg college of UP - In 1999, UP had only 7 Govt. Engg Colleges and two private i.e. One at Modinagar and one was PCCS Noida. Other pvt colleges had just started to come up. The College was established in 1991.
Course Curriculum Overview
The College had a Course Curriculum which was run by IITs at that time and we used to refer only good foreign books like for example, Millman Halkias for Solid State Devices, Malvino for Digital Elctronics, malvino leech, Maron, Douglas V Hall for Microprocessor. The Course Curriculum was standard and covered almost all the important facets of Electronics and Communication like Antenna, Wave Propagation, Microwave technology, etc.
Internships Opportunities
As i am out of touch of the college from many years, I am not sure which companies are visiting the campus for internship. However, at our times, many upcoming startups in noida in the field of computers and electronics visited the campus and selected students for internship as well as jobs. Some of the noteworthy were Moser baer, Motorola, BEL etc.
Placement Experience
I think the placement cell of the College is now in shackles and the basic fabric of professionalism of the college is now torn by the strife among the management and the teaching staff. The College I think no more attracts the best of the students from the UP State Engg Counselling,
College Events
We were a vibrant community of tecnicians at our college. Annual College Fest Dreamz used to be organised every year. Technical quizzes, debates and seminars were a regular features. We used to represent our colege in various sports like Chess, bridge etc.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee expenditure today is as per the UP technical University norms. At our times it was Rs. 19000/- Per year for us the free seat students. The paid seat students had to shell out around 60000 bucks per annum. The examination fee was required to be paid to university at the rate of Rs. 100 per paper.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions
The College had a scheme of submitting fee in two installments, which i availed in every year. One more thing which i remember was free railway warrant every semester for going home. We used to love this facility and used to clog the Administrators office right after our exams.
Campus Life
The campus life was vibrant and happening. For students like us who had come from smaller towns like Allahabad, the smart culture of noida comprising of girls, pools, shopping malls, cyber cafes, ATMs (first ATM at Allahabad Bank barnch of the Campus) was too much of a fun.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel was like outsourced to a third party in our college but it was good by all standards including the food and the security. The girls hostel was also in the same campus the other very convenient option was to be a PG because Noida has a culture of living guests and the residents had accepted us well. Due to spurt in industries, the working population was high who used to normally reside in PGs. The cost of living slightly high as compared to other small locations.
Alumni/Alumna
The alumni network is sort of ok and is existing on Social media platforms like facebook, linkedIN, etc. The peer camaradrie is actually quite strong in our batch and the friends are spread in London, florida, california, Melbourne, Delhi, bangalore, Pune, Hyderabad etc. The general population is quite helpful.
Exam Structure
At our times, we used to have two Minors and one major examinations in a semester alongwith internal assesments. The breakup of the marks was: Minor 1 - 15, Minor 2 - 15, Internal Assesment - 20, Majors - 50 the Lab papers were of 100 marks and scaled down to 30 % and all the above assesment scaled down to 70% to form the 100 marks.
Faculty
Some of the Old faculties were quite good. they were from IITs and reputed institutions. They had the command on the subject and after their lecture there used to be no need for any reference material.Of late some youngsters also started to teach who lacked depth in the subject.
