Remarks
The college has a good reputation and brand name. It is one of the fastest growing tier 2 MBA colleges in the country with a great MBA in the marketing program. The entrance exam takes place in mid December and the selection process takes place in February. The selection procedure consists of- 1. Group Exercise 2. Personal Interview 2. Written Ability Test This is collectively known as the GEPIWAT process. Major reasons for preferring this college are the experienced faculties and industry exposure provided in the college. The only thing that can be a little bothersome is the space constraint, the campus is a bit small but tries well to incorporate as many facilities as possible including a basketball court, table tennis, badminton court and an auditorium.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is very detailed and quite hectic for the first year with about 12-13 subjects included in each semester. The faculties have detailed, well planned course material spread over 20-30 sessions depending on the course credit and curriculum. Each course is enriched with simulations, case studies and real world problem solving to give the student a thorough understanding of the subject. The good part is that the subjects are taught right from the basics to make sure people from different graduation backgrounds are able to cope up.
Internships Opportunities
The college provides full assistance for obtaining summer internships which are a mandatory part of the course to get the degree. Top companies in the fields of finance, HR, marketing and operations visit the campus at different times during the year.
Placement Experience
The college provides excellent facilities for campus placement both for summer internships and final placement. A hard-working student can achieve a lot from the opportunities that come to the campus. The first round of interviews happen for the summer internships (to be done between the 1st and 2nd year). These interviews happen during the 1st and 2nd semester. The next season of interviews happens for the final placements during the 3rd and 4th semester.
Fees and Financial Aid
As a student of a batch of 2019-2021, my fees were close to 18 lakhs for the entire duration of the course, including hostel and mess fees. The college has a policy of about a 10% hike in fees on year on year basis. The university does provide a few scholarships on a merit basis while the college is also eligible for loans from all major banks. We do not have any on-campus jobs but the college placement cell comes up with opportunities for live projects to gain experience in fields of interest. These live projects may or may not be paid, depends on the company.
Campus Life
SIBM Bengaluru has a calendar full of various different kind of fests ranging from its management conclave Alchemy to social responsibility event Utthaan. It gives you many opportunities to participate in different verticals of organizing the event to gain some hands on experience in any area of interest.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel rooms are allocated on twin sharing or triple sharing basis. Food is also provided in the mess on all days regardless of holidays. This is a residential course and therefore it is mandatory to avail the hostel provided by the institute and reside on campus.
Interview Experience
Yes, the GEPIWAT process consists of Group Exercise, Personal Interview and Written Ability Test. The scores from this exercise account for 50% of the total score that are used to generate the merit list for the admission. The other 50% comes from the SNAP exam score. Topics to prepare range from generic questions about the student, their prior work experience, reason for choosing MBA, reason for choosing a particular specialization, topics of interest, current affairs etc.
