Remarks

My college led to my overall holistic development. There was no favourism held. Everyone had the opportunity to showcase their skills and tell the college each student is unique in their own way. The management were pretty approachable. We were able to raise any issue faced by students and they would take timely action.

Course Curriculum Overview

2.5

Gone are the days where the teacher would teach from books alone. We had an library where we had access to a lot of research journals. Being an Engineering degree it's imperative that there is a lot of industry specific knowledge imparted. Th current students are lucky as they get to design engines complying with BS6.We had quite a few industrial visits organized so that we knew where we would fit in the organization. We were able to choose elective subjects such as management so that we have the best of both worlds

Placement Experience

3.5

Many of the major IT companies would walk in. My college was located in Thuraipakkam which was pretty close to sholingnallur and all the company hub. So many of them would come with exciting packages. There were many start ups that had come during my placement in 2017. The placement percentage would be around 85%. Not all would sit for placements as they planned to study abroad or give the GATE exam. Yes we had an placement cell that would impart short term courses to make one corporate ready.

College Events

4

We had technical and cultural fests. Each department would hold it's intra and inter collegiate.Other colleges were invited to participate and the same way we would go to various colleges like SSN, Prince shri Venkateshwara, VIT, SRM, St Joseph's College. These fests aimed at honing our skills to shape our future. I had the opportunity to head one of the tech fests which helped us in handling the situation and we had an opportunity to conduct and know the intricacies of hosting such big tech o fests. Annually my college would have an cultural event ranging from oratorical competition to dance and singing.

Fee Structure And Facilities

My college fees in totality was around 8 lakhs. We had the flexibility of making online payment. There was no capitation or fees that we had to pay to secure a seat. We were briefed about the fee structure during the admission process. There was separate charge for the bus and canteen. There was a clear break up of the fees we had to pay.

Fees and Financial Aid

No, I didn't opt for any scholarship or educational loan. The scholarship were awarded to the well deserving student's who needed the financial support.the application for the scholarship was pretty transparent. The scholarship would cover around 30% of the tuition fee. There were other external scholarships that we were encouraged to apply for.

Campus Life

2.5

The campus life was pretty chilled with focus on education. It was an co education institution. We had no dorm parties but the seniors would throw an informal party to the incoming students by conducting fresher contests. We had mix of North Indian students but majority were south indian students. My college was tolerant to all relegions. Being a Hindu majority college. The Hindu values and ethos were not forced upon the other relegions students. We didn't have the flamboyant class of the society studying. Majority belonged to the lower, middle and upper middle class. Hailing from the mechanical course we had access to labs to come up with novel automobile technology. We had an college debate, quiz, dance ( fusion to carnatic) and band as well.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

No, I was a day scholar but many of my friends opted for the hostel and they were pretty decently maintained. The facilities were not world class as they didn't charge a bomb. They were just enough to facilitate our studying with the washrooms kept clean time to time.Near the college premises there are hostels and PGs with the basic facility of an air-conditioned to kitchenette that let the students cook. The average rentals for the PG would be around 4000 monthly (AC, kitchenette)

Alumni/Alumna

Yes the alumni network is pretty extensive. We had the constant support of the seniors through out College life and even now if I have to apply for any transcripts required for my post graduation. We would have a chat with the senior as they would talk about their struggles and avenues that open up in the future and the courses we can study to be career ready.

Admission

The admission process of my college is pretty transparent. There was a online application based on the cut offs the lists of selected students were published and we were given particular slots so that it would ease the admission process. It all happened in the month of May 2013. May 1 st week it would start within the end of the month they would wind up so that we were able to start college by July. Then the Engineering courses would start by July. The course that I wanted was available. There was no capitation fee. It was very close to my residence. I had an big, sprawling campus and we had a pretty decent cricket team.

Faculty

4

My Professors had to qualify the UGC NET or SET exam. They had regular study workshops so that they were abreast with the current knowledge. The average age of the faculty was 40. There was young faculty that would handle the first year but as the course would proceed preference was given to lecturers with lot of experience and expertise. Approximately 90-120 hours were allotted based on the credits allocated for the subject. Many of the professors were doctorates and had published papers.
