Remarks

Good Remarks: Nice peaceful environment Academic life is very solid Good Hostel Life Qualified FacultiesLess Involvement of Administration in student matters.Bad Remarks:Course Curriculum should be redesigned to meet National standards. The prize money for the annual events should be increased to involve participation from more number of students.

Entrance Preview

I took AIEEE in 2009 and my State Rank was 800.OPJIT was the new college around that time and was purely Industry Oriented and an initiative by Mr. Naveen Jindal, and i was very much keen to take admission in such a college where training and placements would take place at good industries.I wanted Mechanical Engineering and it was available at ease with my rank at such high profile college.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

As far as Mechanical is concerned Course Curriculum was nearly the same as it would have been in any IIT or NIT.Elective subjects such as Power Plant Engineering, Artificial Intelligence were there to choose fromWith 20 laboratories having more than 30 kinds of major equipment, the department is one of the most innovation-driven departments in the state. The highlights of this infrastructure include equipment and software like Scorbot-ER 9 Robot, CNC lathe machine, CNC milling machine, wind tunnel, Lab View and ANSYS. A Centre for Excellence in Robotics has been established to enable students to learn about and excel in this new and growing field. Additionally, an MoU has been signed with Indo-German Institute of Advanced Technology, Vishakhapatnam, to provide employment oriented training to students. For students aspiring to sit for the GATE exam, the department organises a mock test to help them prepare.

Internships Opportunities

As far as internship was concerned we were not offered internship from college campus, we had to find it by ourselves. As the internship was not offered by college, so the question of stipend also doesn't arise. As part of JSPL industrial group we were offered 1 month summer training in 4th & 6th semester at JSPL & JPL group of industries

Placement Experience

3.5

Placement i really good as this college is driven by Jindal ConglomertaeDuring 2013 there was 70% placement as most of the students went for higher studies. The major companies that came to recruit were JSPL, JSW, Nuerth, DCPL, IGATE, IBM.

College Events

4.5

TECHNOROLLIX is the annual technical and cultural festival of the college. About 10000+ students from colleges around India come here every year in February to celebrate and enjoy by winning the cash prizes in this festival.Apart from these there are National & International Level conferences being held form time to time

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee structure is quite feasible for a medium scale earning family.College fees with all the expenses excluding the hostel fees comes around to be 40000 per semesterIncluding the hostel fess it would be around 70000 per semester with all the mess & recreation facilities being included.

Fees and Financial Aid

I didn't avail any Loan facility for the fees. However there are some offered by ICICI & Punjab National Bank.Regarding the scholarships, yes there are scholarships for meritorious students per year upto RS. 30000. Also OPJEMS is a prestigious program held every year by Jindal Conglomerate where one individual from each year gets a scholarship of Rs.65000 depending on how he/she performs in the preliminary test conducted at the national level.

Campus Life

4.5

In my opinion campus life is really good and fine to live your 4 years. The environment of the college campus will give you a feel of IIT although its only a 100 acre campus but the facilities are really on top. There is no racism in the college in terms of gender, sexual orientation and religion and the college is really serious on these issues as the college involves the name of MP Mr. Naveen Jindal.Labs, Sports, Competitions are all good to go with. Every 2 months you will find a sport/recreation activity being carried out may it be Lawn Tennis, Football, Badminton, Squash, TT, Cricket, Chess, Carrom or Annual Athletics Championship.

Hostel Facilities

4

Firstly No shortage of hostel rooms are there. Hostel life is pretty much good. The infrastructure of hostel is really very cool. The rooms are very very spacious and its shared by 3 persons in case of boys and two persons in case of girls.Within the rooms there are bed with mattresses and almirahs and table with drawers per individual. A common TV & games room is there in every floor. Mess food can be good and can be bad sometimes. But there's no problem good restaurants are also available outside the college and you can go there and have food till 10 PM in the night.

Alumni/Alumna

College seniors are always helpful may it be during the college time or even after the college is over. Today also we are in touch with our seniors and they are always friendly and good to hang out with whenever the time permits us

Exam Structure

Exam structure is very fine and the pace is very easy to handle. No hectic schedules are there. Appropriate gaps is provided in between the papers and practical exams

Faculty

4.5

Highly qualified faculties are there for all the branches.People being qualified with Phd's from foreign universities are there to guide you all the time. Also the Assoc. Professors and Asst. Professors are highly qualified and are loaded with tonnes of Industry experience.

Placement Experience:

Final year students are eligible to appear for campus placements which starts towards the end of their 7th semester. Companies that visited for Civil Engineering: L&T, Adani, Stratview Research, PlanetSpark and several local firms. The highest packages were offered by Adani (approx 7 LPA) and L&T (6-7 LPA). Around 5-7 students received placement offers from the mentioned companies. It is important to note that a lot many students did not sit for campus placements as they had different career aspirations (government jobs, higher education, business ventures etc.) My plans were to prepare for upcoming competitive government exams as well as try my hand at something different and creative

Microtex, HCL, Wipro and many other IT companies gives us research projects and also their work as well. So, we basically have indirectly worked for them and the ones they feel can add more to their organization comes with a clear mind and take us with a package that we expect them to. So, placements are purely on performance as those who perform well are given best of placements.
