LIFE AT UNOM

The only problem in this college is the infrastructure. Most of the buildings are very old and especially our department building is quite old and prone to leakage during rain. Other than that the college is quite good and well equipped with a big library and wifi facilities are also provided.

The course curriculum is very good and almost covers all the aspects that's needed for MBA. The curriculum is flexible too you can choose any subject from any department in the college. There is a project that should be provided on the final year and the most importance is given to that as it's a research. The curriculum is designed in such a way that the students when they reach the final semester of their course they will have no subjects but have to only focus on the project at hand. Per semester there are two internal assessment conducted per subject and a semester exam at the end of each semester. For the first two semesters the schedule will be a little hectic according to me. But after you reach second year it'll be filled with lot of free time. You can also do online certifications and add to your subjects and increase your credits and this is accepted in this college.

The placements are somewhat good. Around 80 %of the students get placed in campus placements itself but the rest get placed through out of campus interviews. The college does not provide internships, the student should find internships on his own or with the help of the faculty. The college provides internship only on rare occasions if any company approaches like this year ITC had asked us and gives a stipend of Rs 5000.

The event conducted by our department is SYNERGY which is national level technical symposium for Management Studies. Around 250 to 300 participants attend this each year. The event contains events that are related to management studies like stock war and find ur route and stress interviews. It also contains fun events like ipl war, connections, treasure hunt etc. There are no cultural festivals held at our college.

The fee structure is very affordable. It's the second cheapest in all over India. For MBA - Regular students - 26,000 per year and 13,000 per year for sc/st students Self supportive students - 46,000 per year and 26,000 per year for sc/st students.

A scholarship is provided for sc/st students and BC /MBC students. The students who are eligible for applying this scholarship should not have annual income more than 200000 per annum. He /she should provide all the academic and community certificates and a scholarship of Rs 8000 will be given.

There are many extracurricular activities conducted each week in our department which include weekly guest lectures quizzes debates and many more. The gender ratio is very healthy and students from different states and countries are studying here. Majority of the students are from Tamil Nadu and Kerala. There is good number of students from Assam and Uttar Pradesh. Foreign students are also there but very few in number. All the students are very friendly and don't discriminate anyone.

The hostel rooms are very spacious two students stay in one room. Two fans and two beds are provided for each room. It's very clean and 20 bathrooms and restrooms are given per floor. The hostel seats are few and preference will be given to those who are far away from chennai. The average rental that should be paid per year is 10,000 and mess bill should be paid for each corresponding month.

The alumni network of this college is very strong. They stay in touch with the students and are very easy to approach. With the recommendation and help of my alumni only I got an internship and helps me in lot other things like what are courses that are needed to be studied which are expected by the current organisations

The only way to get admission in this college is through passing TANCET exam. You have to apply for the exam through online and after the results and ranks are published. You should send an DD of Rs 300 along with Xerox copy of your academic certificates to GCT Coimbatore. After this the counselling ranks and dates will be published online and you have to attend the counselling on the given date. The date and session of your counselling will be based on your TANCET score. The higher the score the earlier you will attend the counselling. The venue for counselling is GCT Coimbatore. After you selected the college and course. The allotment order will be given to you and a receipt of Rs 5000 will be given which you have to pay there itself. The date of admission for the college will be given on the allotment order. For University of Madras you have to bring all the original certificates along with attested Xerox copies of your certificates for completing the admission process. The fees has to be paid during the admission. The fees can be paid only through online and the print of the fees paid receipt should be given to the office. The corresponding forms should be filled and given to the office at Department of Management Studies for MBA.

The faculty members of our department are well qualified and all of them have completed M.Phil and PhD. They are very intrested in teaching the course as they not online teach what's been given in the syllabus but also teach us things that are expected in the industry nowdays. They provide us with activities that makes us understand the subject more easily. But the one problem is that there not many staff members available in our department. But to compensate that guest faculties are called upon to teach some of the subjects. Overall the faculty of our department are very good and knowledgeable but the number of faculties is the only drawback.
