How are the XLRI GMP placements for candidates who came from a non-IT background?

SS
Shivalika Sharma Posted On : May 21st, 2021
studying B. Tech from Banasthali Vidyapeeth (2019).

XLRI is a really good institute to go for. The ethos, culture, and diversity are all enigmatic. One of my friends studying there suggests that you can learn and grow simultaneously.

  • Placements for non-IT background students are comparatively less. Usually, the domain consultant role is offered.
  • These domain consultants also get a chance to go abroad for further work experience.
  • Nowadays, companies are also hiring, even being unsure about the candidate’s past work experience.
  • You just evolve as your potential individuality begins to blossom. This is the most significant advantage of being in XLRI.
  • Academics and case studies are generally the same across the board.
  • The admissions process is a little stringent and filters out the “right” individuals.

Placement stats:

Categories

GMP at XLRI

Top recruiters

Accenture, Aditya Birla Group, AgroTech, Airtel, Amazon.com, Capgemini, IBM, HCL, etc.

Average salary package

19.6 LPA

Highest salary package

48 LPA

Median salary package

19 LPA

Course Fee

20.95 lakh

It is not a disadvantage to not be an engineer. A consulting career requires more analytical ability, business awareness, and thought process.

All you have to do is work a little harder to achieve your goals. So, go ahead and start preparing for your career and you'll make it. Ultimately your performance will matter rather than being an IT or a non-IT background.

What should be preference order of IMT Ghaziabad courses- PGDM, PGDM marketing, PGDM finance, PGDM DCP, PGDM banking, insurance and financial services?

DC
Dhruv Chatterjee Posted On : January 25th, 2023
PGDM from Institute of Management Technology, Ghaziabad (Graduated 2022)

IMT Ghaziabad offers a variety of courses that cater to various specializations. These courses have been listed and explained in their order of preference

  • PGDM Marketing/PGDM Full Time (Marketing): This is the most coveted program among IMT students mainly because today its alumni have acquired top positions in big firms. Other major reasons include top-notch faculty, great internship and placement opportunities in terms of role and CTC, IMT’s eligibility, and excellent performances in recognized marketing and strategy B Schools competitions.
  • PGDM Finance/PGDM Full Time (Finance): This one is most suitable for aspirants who are interested in Finance. However, this program offers lesser opportunities than the Marketing program in terms of role and CTC.
  • PGDM Full Time (Operations): This program offers opportunities similar to that of Finance. But the batch size of PGDM Operations is smaller than PGDM Finance, so it may be easier to secure an internship/final placement, but the opportunities come less compared to Finance.
  • PGDM DCP: DCP or the Dual Country Program is for those who are keen to get international exposure. Compared to an MBA from a foreign university, this program is cheaper and yet offers an opportunity to explore a different culture and learn to make decisions in an international context. This is best suitable for those who are in the Marketing domain.
  • PGDM Banking and Financial Services (PGDM-BFS): This program was launched in 2019 and is relatively newer. It targets the core Banking and Finance sector. While the MBA program aims to provide a holistic view of management, this program solely focuses on Banking and Finance.
  • PGDM Full Time (HR): This is the least taken course and offers very less in terms of opportunities.

The courses have been arranged preference-wise so will make it easy for you to choose one.

Which course in TAPMI is better, the core PGDM, the HRM, or BKFS?

DK
Divya Kaur Posted On : May 2nd, 2023
Studied PGDM from T. A. Pai Management Institute (2011)

What's most important is that you enjoy it. The BKFS program is highly specialized and designed to equip students with the tools necessary to succeed in any financial-related field.

The PGDM's first year emphasizes variety over specialization. Two years into the program, you'll have the option to focus on either Marketing, Operations, or Finance. It's up to you to determine the kind of career you want to have. Everything in the new system will be up to the individual, replacing both the major and minor systems. Although the HR course is brand new, it will be just as rigorous and cover the same ground as other courses.

How does the XLRI GMP program compare with one year MBA programs of IIMs and SP Jain?

IC
Indrani Chatterjee Posted On : April 25th, 2023
PGDM from Xavier School of Management (2018)

XLRI's Global MBA program (GMP) is a one-year, full-time residential MBA program designed for executives and entrepreneurs with substantial work experience. The program is aimed at providing participants with global exposure, leadership skills, and a holistic understanding of business. While comparing the XLRI GMP program with the one-year MBA programs of IIMs and SP Jain, the following points can be considered:

  • Curriculum: XLRI GMP has a comprehensive curriculum that covers core management subjects as well as a range of electives in areas such as leadership, entrepreneurship, global management, and sustainability. The one-year MBA programs of IIMs and SP Jain also cover similar subjects.
  • Pedagogy: XLRI GMP uses a mix of classroom lectures, case studies, simulations, and experiential learning to provide a practical understanding of management concepts. The one-year MBA programs of IIMs and SP Jain also follow a similar pedagogy.
  • Faculty: XLRI GMP has a pool of experienced faculty members who bring a wealth of industry experience to the classroom. The one-year MBA programs of IIMs and SP Jain also have top-class faculty members.
  • Global Exposure: XLRI GMP offers a 5-week international immersion program, where students visit top international B-schools and companies to gain a better understanding of global business practices. The one-year MBA programs of IIMs and SP Jain also offer international immersion programs, but the duration and scope may differ.
  • Placements: XLRI GMP has a strong industry interface and has consistently achieved 100% placement for its graduates. The one-year MBA programs of IIMs and SP Jain also have a good placement record.
  • Alumni network: XLRI GMP has a strong alumni network of over 12,000 professionals in various industries and domains. The one-year MBA programs of IIMs and SP Jain also have large alumni networks.
  • Fees: XLRI GMP has a higher fee structure compared to the one-year MBA programs of IIMs and SP Jain.

In conclusion, all the programs have their unique features and strengths. While XLRI GMP offers a comprehensive curriculum and global exposure, the one-year MBA programs of IIMs and SP Jain also have similar features and strong industry connections. The choice between these programs ultimately depends on your career goals, budget, and personal preferences.

Is IIM tag really important in the long run? I have a call from NITIE (PGDIM), IIM Shillong and MDI (HR and IB, PGDM is a little waitlisted). What should be my order of preference?

SG
Sandeep Goyal Posted On : January 16th, 2023
, PGDM Marketing & Operations Management, Indian Institute of Management Shillong (2018)

Let me strike off IIM Shillong from your list of preferences. This is because no matter how well it is doing, it can never compare to the older IIMs and the recruiting companies know that very well. Now let’s look at the other two options.

NITIE: This option is a feasible one only if you are interested in Operations. I won’t suggest it for any other domain.

MDI Gurgaon: From the alumni base to location advantage, this B School has it all. Now that you have chosen your college, let’s discuss the domain you will be choosing. I will suggest you go for HR only if you are seriously passionate about it. If you are confused between HR and Operations, the best option is the IM course. The PGP-IM of MDI, Gurgaon is the best International management course in India. Its USP is its generic nature making it possible for you to start your career in any domain like marketing, finance, Consulting, or product management.

Can I get into XLRI PGDM - GM with a GMAT score of 660 and with a work ex of 6+ years?

ST
Shibani Tagore Posted On : June 8th, 2021
Studied at Xavier School of Management

My cousin is in XLRI's PGDM program and he told me that his work experience in China helped him a lot as they value international experience. If you've volunteered with NGOs or did any form of social service in the past, then that'll definitely count.

Overall, a strong application with some essays and recommendation letters will raise your chances of admission. You should be able to prove to them that what you do is extraordinary, that you are a natural leader. Once you've prepared your application, get a grammar check done by your friends with good English language skills. Keep working on your application.

  • Substantiate your essays and videos with interesting anecdotes and highlight the accolades you have achieved in your career.
  • Try to retake the GMAT exam and score 700 to be in the safe spot.
  • Focus on your interview with these questions in mind- why MBA? What do you want to do after your MBA? Highlight your pre and post-MBA plans.

XLRI will regard you highly if you are aware of India’s socio-economic issues and form your answers from an inclusive point of social welfare.

Be updated on the deadlines. Wait for the list to come out. Submit the essays and video. I am sure you'll get a call for GD and a personal interview. The difficulty arises from this point and you'll be expected to have prepared extremely well for the interview.

Its Ghaziabad or IMS Ghaziabad which college is better for PGDM?

TP
Tanya Panchal Posted On : February 13th, 2023
BBA from Institute of Technology and Science, Mohan Nagar, Ghaziabad (Graduated 2020)

My friend is a student of ITS Mohan Nagar and he claims the college to be one that gave him ample opportunities and made his dreams come true. The institute promotes the growth of students through enriched knowledge and experiences.

The infrastructure is nowhere less than any top B School and has amenities like a canteen, gym, Complex, Air Conditioned classrooms, library, hostel facilities, excellent Wi-Fi network, and well-run cafeteria.

The institute also takes a keen interest in promoting extracurricular environments. The placement scenario is also pretty decent and roles in all sectors are offered to its students. The campus has a laid-back atmosphere and you can relax anywhere. So if you want to experience a thrilling college life this one's for you.

Which is better for a PGDM, IFIM Bangalore or IBS Hyderabad?

AB
Akash Bhattacharya Posted On : February 15th, 2023
MBA Supply Chain Management, National Institute of Industrial Engineering (2020

Both the colleges are moderate and have no feature that makes them stand out from the other. IFIM Bangalore is a bit overestimated but has been able to make a mark in the Finance sector.

IBS Hyderabad on the other hand is a brand name and has been there for decades. It attracts over 1000 students every year making it one of the most coveted B Schools of the country.

The best way to find out which is a better choice is through comparing the high fees with the average package and concluding the estimated ROI.

Fees

IFIM Bangalore - ?4.65 Lakhs (1st Year Fees)

IBS Hyderabad-INR 16.02 MBA Program

Average Salary

IFIM Bangalore - INR 7.5 LPA

IBS Hyderabad - INR 11.70 LP

Other top tier colleges include

  • IMT (Hyd)
  • SIBM (Hyd)
  • NMIMS (Hyd)
  • Ashoka School of Business (Hyd)

ASB is a rather good choice in terms of ROI.
