How is Hindustan University for aerospace engineering?

AM
Anita Mukherjee Posted On : April 8th, 2021
B.Tech in chem. Eng. from Hindustan University (2020)

One of my friends studies at Hindustan University. So, I know a little bit about the institute.

Hindustan University is recognized as a great platform for Aerospace Engineering. But the institute owes its reputation to the students who go out of their way to excel in academics without much help from the institute.

According to my friend’s experience, the institute does not offer support of any kind, be it lab equipment, leniency in attendance, or time.

  • The institute charges high fines for low attendance.
  • It also has a dress code for the laboratory which is quite uncomfortable. According to authority, it is for the protection of the students. However, there are either computer-related laboratory works or lectures, so there is actually no need for uncomfortable uniforms.
  • Also, students are not allowed to use most of the equipment in the laboratory. According to authorities, it could be potentially dangerous.

Overall, at Hindustan University you won’t have many facilities, placement offers, or any kind of support. So, it would be better to opt for other options.

Is Amity University the best for aerospace engineering?

TC
Tanushree Chakraborty Posted On : May 7th, 2021
M.Tech Aerospace and Aeronautical Engineering & Composite Materials, Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur (2019)

One of my friends studied aerospace engineering at Amity University, so let me share his experiences about the college and also the true facts about Amity University.

Amity University offers two programs in Aerospace - BTech in Aerospace Engineering and a Dual degree program ( Integrated BTech + MTech).

  • There are very few experienced faculty members in both of these departments. They are not very active and supportive.
  • The course curriculum is well designed, however, the teaching methodology is not very impressive.
  • The department is very strict about the attendance of students. The students need to maintain a minimum of 75% attendance. The department debarred the students who fail to attain 75% attendance in any subject.
  • The aerospace department is separated from the Amity School of Engineering and technology and thus the students miss out on most of the events and programs.
  • The student crowd is huge at Amity. There are various spots of the student crowd such as Domino, CCD, Small market, Salons, etc. huge events are being organized for students.

Highest CTC

The campus placement is not good in the aerospace department. Either you will be selected in Defence or any IT company. There are no internship opportunities available. You will hardly get a package ranging from INR 4-5 LPA. The course fee is also high in respect to the placement given. The course curriculum is mainly theoretical and very less practical.

You should try for another better college for doing Aerospace rather than in Amity.

What is the placement record like at Hindustan University for aerospace engineering?

RR
Raghubeer Rao Posted On : April 8th, 2021
Studied Aerospace and Aeronautical Engineering at Hindustan University

One of my cousins is an alumnus at Hindustan University. Not many of his batchmates are working as Aerospace Engineers. Most of them were placed in IT companies through campus placements. The very few who are actually working in a field related to Aerospace Engineering made it there through their own efforts.

The placement report published by the university is as follows:

Academic Year

Total Number of Offers

Percentage of Placement

Number of Companies

2018-19

456

78.75%

77

2017-18

514

78.59%

50

2016-17

485

77.84%

75

In the academic year of 2018-19, for the department of aerospace engineering, 22 students registered for placement out of which 15 got placed.

A large number of software companies hire from this university. If your only concern is placement, then this might not be the best college for you because the university does not ensure 100% placement.

Is PEC University of Technology, Chandigarh, good for aerospace engineering? How is campus life for girls outside Chandigarh/Punjab?

DB
Devlina Bose Posted On : May 1st, 2021
Studied at University of Delhi (2019)

PEC is in general considered as one of the finest colleges in Chandigarh. There are several advantages to being in a city like Chandigarh, including safety, being around civilized people, less pollution, etc.

Though having a good environment, Aerospace Engineering is not very good at PEC Chandigarh. Due to the lack of experienced faculty members, some good lecturers come as guest lecturers, but almost 80% of the studies have to be done by the students themselves. The good thing is that students can fly RC planes. The infrastructure should also improve as Aerospace Engineering requires proper lab facilities.

The table below gives a brief overview of the Aerospace Engineering department of PEC University of Technology, Chandigarh.

Though the course is not up to the mark, your life in Chandigarh will be extremely comfortable and a lot safer than in other cities in the country.

Due to less population in Chandigarh, there are quite fewer vehicles and more trees inside the city. This results in very little pollution and almost no traffic in the streets.

Therefore, firstly, aerospace engineering is not a very good choice which is evident from the placement percentage stated above. Coming to life in Chandigarh, it is excellent with an amazing environment all around.

Should I take aerospace in PEC or CS in CCET Chandigarh?

KC
Khushi Chitra Posted On : May 4th, 2021
Studied M.E from Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh (2015)

It totally depends on your career interest. In India, there are very few jobs in the aerospace industry than in Computer Science Engineering. However, you should definitely pursue ‘Aerospace Engineering' at PEC University.

Aerospace in PEC

  • Aerospace Engineering (PEC University) is an excellent choice. It has a good reputation, personal development opportunities, better placements, and experienced faculty members.
  • Companies providing placement are Airbus, Rolls-Royce, BAE Systems, Bell Helicopter, Boeing, Honeywell Aerospace, Rockwell Collins, etc.

CS in CCET Chandigarh

  • Computer Science from CCET, Chandigarh, on the other hand, is not a good option. It is not as well-known as PEC University.
  • Campus placements are limited. CSE is now equivalent to MCA, and MCA graduates can apply for the same job as a Computer Science engineer.
  • Companies Provided placements are Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Infosys, Wipro, HCL, Cognizant Accenture, and many more.

How would you recommend aerospace engineering in PEC Chandigarh for UG?

RS
Radhika Singh Posted On : May 4th, 2021
Studied Aerospace and Aeronautical Engineering at Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh (2020)

Unlike many different branches available, you have to work harder if your decision is PEC Chandigarh.

  • The subjects taught to Aerospace Engineering by the faculty are extremely crucial as compared to the numerous advances in the same field.
  • It has a great lab where they are required to wind tunnels, both subsonic and supersonic.
  • You will have a variety of engines to inspect and observe, airfoil design labs, and several other experimental hikes.
  • In your 4th year, you will be provided flight training. There will also be internship opportunities in the second half of your 3rd year.
  • Now, when talking about the placements, there are almost no placements for this branch. Presently, only non-core branches are getting placement offers.

A subject like this will requires you to complete the post-graduation for better exposure. regardless of the university. One of my friends chose this branch not to get a job but to study it in detail and pursue it further in post-graduation.

You can go for it without thinking twice. But, you can only excel at PEC with complete hard work and dedication. It never fails to provide the best of all opportunities.

Lastly, if you did not know, Kalpana Chawla was one of the reputed alumni of PEC Chandigarh, which can most probably make your decision quite simpler too.

How is the aeronautical branch at PEC Chandigarh?

AM
Agnish Mukhopadhyay Posted On : April 30th, 2021
Studied at Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh

Aerospace Engineering from PEC is decent. It is excellent if compared to other private colleges, but it is regretful compared to the IITs. The following are the highlights of the program.

The chances for admission in Aerospace Engineering are bitty. The cut-offs of various branches have been fluctuating over the past few years. So, it’s not possible to predict the exact cut-off which will land you in Aerospace Engineering from PEC. The cut-off is generally around 15-19000. If you belong to any quota then getting admission gets easier.

If you are inclined to Aerospace Engineering, the program from PEC is worth the ride.
