How do I get a transcript from PTU Jalandhar?
My sister applied online for her transcripts, a few years back. According to her, you need to visit the PTU support website, sign up, and fill in your details. After that, you need to click on ‘Add query’ to apply for your transcripts. Next, you need to upload your DMCs in PDF format, along with an ID proof. Next, you need to mention the address where you want those transcripts to be delivered. After that, you’ll be taken to the payments section where you’ll have to pay Rs. 300 per transcript + Rs. 100 for postage within Punjab, or Rs. 200 for postage outside Punjab/India.
My sister had received her transcripts a month and a half later. The charges may have increased a bit over the years. You’ll figure it out upon signing up.
Is PTU a good university?
As a university, PTU is good enough but if you want to take other aspects into account such as the campus, then keeping your options open would be a good idea. Someone I know has completed her MBA from PTU and in her opinion, the institute is entirely immersed in academics which is not bad per se but there are hardly any extra-curricular activities and events going on. The faculty is also subpar in their abilities.
In the case of engineering, the students are known to memorize everything instead of understanding the concept. There are always exceptions, though. The placement scenario in PTU is also not that great. The average CTC offered at the institute is 5 LPA. However, the colleges under PTU are more popular than the main campus.

I have a few friends in PTU who claimed that answering questions to the point fetched you very few marks in the PTU examination. A few even mentioned tips that might help you attempt the PTU exam paper effectively
- Make sure to solve questions in the given order only.
- Set your target for filling at least 28-30 answer sheets. The bitter reality here is the more you write, the more marks you end up scoring.
- Use different inks to write questions and answers to make your answer sheet presentable.
- Draw a margin on either side of the sheet to ensure a neat appearance
- Support every answer with a diagram drawn with a pencil to impress the examiner.
- Attempt all the questions even if you are vaguely familiar with the topic.

How can I get a degree certificate from PTU Jalandhar?
After passing all the semesters and after completion of your course from PTU Jalandhar, you will get a degree certificate from the college.
- For this you will have to log in to your PTU application by visiting this website support.ptu.ac.in and then enter your ID.
- After that select the document you want and upload all your necessary documents required.
- There you will get access to your degree.
- But if you want the original copy of the degree, you will have to get a NOC and a clearance certificate from your college.
- After getting those required documents you can go to the university and get your original degree from there.

PTU and GNDU both are well-reputed colleges that have unique strengths and weaknesses. While PTU is a bit flexible in terms of exam pattern, GNDU follows the rule of a year back. The choice of the college also depends on the course you will be studying. Usually, PTU fares better in most cases.
Ultimately, it all depends on the college or university campus you are taking admission. Most colleges in Punjab have a pathetic academic ambiance. So go for the main campus of any university else look for a decent college in your area.
In all, GNDU offers better placement opportunities provided that you are on the main campus.
Which is better for engineering GNDU or PTU?
Both the PTU and GNDU are different in their terms and have their advantages and disadvantages. The GNDU is strict with the examination rules, whereas at PTU rules regarding examinations are quite relaxed in comparison. Choosing PTU or GNDU also depends on which course you are choosing. Punjab Technical University or PTU was established by an Act of the State Legislature on 16th January 1997. The primary purpose was to promote technical, management, and pharmaceutical education in the state at degree level and above. Initially, it was established as Punjab Technical University and later renamed as I.K.Gujral Punjab Technical University by the State Government in honor of Late Sh. Inder Kumar Gujral, Former Prime Minister of India, in 2015.
The University has set up many centers of excellence for promoting training, research, and development in these areas. The university offers a number of courses in different streams regular as well as distance education courses.
So, PTU is a government-based University and not a private engineering college.
What are the documents required to apply for duplicate DMC in PTU?
You have to fill in the Application for duplicate DMC in PTU and attach the following documents
- Photocopies of all result notifications/DMCs (as the case may be) duly attested by the Principal of the concerned College/Institute.
- Original copy of FIR.
- An affidavit duly attested from 1st Class Magistrate
- ID Proof of the concerned student.
Duplicate Degree Certificate/DMC(s) will be issued within 07 days of getting the prescribed form and fee.
How do I study effectively for PTU exams?
One of my friends in PTU shared his strategy for studying for PTU exams.
- A month prior to the exams, he studied from Sample Papers of Lords and MBD. He would figure out the pattern of questions carrying maximum marks.
- He focused a lot on his presentation skills while attempting the exam. He ensured neat handwriting, the use of different inks, and answers supported by diagrams.
- At the beginning of each semester, he would use reference books to study. This gave him enough understanding of the subjects.
He followed the above tips and scored 80% aggregate in all semesters. So follow the above study place to improve your grades.
Do colleges under PTU have no value in these years?
PTU Jalandhar is a good college and has a good reputation too. Though, there might be some glitches of course, which do increase or decrease with time. It’s definitely a challenge to maintain the right curriculum and culture, but I can assure you that PTU Jalandhar is quite a good college.
PTU is affiliated with a lot of colleges, a majority of them are just doing business in the name of education and making money and some are just selling the study for the sake.
- PTU Jalandhar is much reputed like any other popular college.
- It is known for the help it provides in getting the jobs and conducting placement drives successfully.
- From an industry perspective, PTU has a wide reach. Many notable companies tend to participate in their placement program.
- PTU, unlike other colleges, does not discriminate among its students. If you are skilled enough, you have a solid chance to secure a placement.
Thus, people claiming that PTU has lost its value are not right. They provided a vague statement and as its name does not have the same brand value as the IITs or NITs, PYU is often undermined.
