Hey there! I'm in my fourth year of CSE at NIET, so I can share my thoughts. I'd say NIET is a decent college for CS and IT. Like most colleges, some teachers are really good, while others might not meet your expectations. But honestly, don't just focus on the academics when judging a college.
NIET is putting in a lot of effort to help students get placed by offering extra classes that teach skills beyond the usual curriculum. They've recently teamed up with Pyramid Finishing School, which is all about getting students ready for jobs. They hold sessions on things like resume writing, body language, grooming, and group discussions. You get to practice speaking in front of everyone, which is pretty cool. From what I've seen, not many other colleges in Greater Noida are offering such extra classes, especially on weekends.
In my opinion, NIET is a solid choice for CS and IT in Greater Noida. And just a side note, the student crowd here isn't too bad either!
I graduated from NIET, Greater Noida, in 2015. While I'm doing well at a cool startup now and making more than double what companies like TCS and Infosys offer at NIET, the college mostly just got in my way. Honestly, I don't think any of the computer science teachers there can even write a line of code, let alone develop a proper application. But this isn't just NIET; it's the reality for most third-tier colleges. The teachers aren't great, and lab assistants are a whole other story. For example, once I was programming in C on Ubuntu, and a lab assistant told me it couldn't be compiled on Linux.
During my final year, I worked on a predictive farming project involving a lot of hardware. The staff didn't understand it at all and giggled through the presentation. There are plenty of other stories like this. They don't teach anything useful, yet you're still required to attend all classes. The placement stories are exaggerated, and they often provide misleading information about companies and salaries. Most companies visiting the campus are KPOs and BPOs. Best of luck.
From my perspective, NIET stands out among private engineering colleges for several reasons:
In Greater Noida, NIET is the only engineering college recognized by major government bodies like NIRF, NBA, and NAAC with an A grade.
NIET is also notable for its alumni, with many students, such as Sana Akhtar Siddiqui (AIR-90) and Himanshu Tripathi, going on to become IAS officers.
It was the first private college acknowledged for its emphasis on academics and job placements.
NIET pioneered the Pyramid Finishing School for pre-placement training, which other colleges later adopted.
Unlike other private colleges that charge between 10k to 20k for placement training, NIET offers it for free.
When it comes to new technology, NIET often leads the way, with facilities like the Microsoft Innovation Centre, robotics, Mercedes training, and free in-house training sessions with top-notch trainers.
The college focuses on grooming students to meet industry standards and regularly holds motivational and career guidance seminars.
NIET allows students to communicate directly with management to discuss any concerns.
It boasts a strong faculty and organizes frequent industrial visits for students.
NIET also has an entrepreneurship cell, and many of its students have successfully started their own businesses.
Top companies often choose NIET for campus placements because their students are well-prepared and their alumni are performing well in the industry.
There are many more points I could mention, but I believe these are enough to show why students and parents might choose NIET.
I recommend NIET to students who are serious about their careers and are looking for a job after graduation. Good luck!
