What is your review of Noida Institute of Engineering and Technology NIET?

I studied at the Noida Institute of Engineering and Technology from 2009 to 2013, majoring in Electrical Engineering. I ended up getting a job at TCS through their campus placements and am now working at TCS Chennai.

NIET ranks among the top 20 colleges in UPTU. It's a decent place, and if you focus on your studies, it can be beneficial.

Here are some positives about the college:

• The academic setting is disciplined and well-organized. They have labs for all practical activities, so while you might not be doing groundbreaking work, you'll definitely learn the basics of engineering.
• Not all teachers are highly qualified, but there are a few professors who can be inspiring. Some of the faculty even have degrees from IITs.
• The placement department is quite active. They guide students on how to prepare for interviews, which helped me a lot too.

On the downside:

• The campus placements mainly attract software and IT companies, so if you're in mechanical or electrical, getting into a core company might be tough.
• The environment feels like a typical private college, so don't expect much in terms of innovation. However, if you have innovative ideas, you might find some support.
• Only about 25% of students who get placed end up with a good salary and job. Many just get positions that are more for the sake of having a job, including opportunities in BPOs.

In summary, if your entrance exam rank is average and you're trying to make the best of a less-than-ideal situation, NIET could be a good choice.

I think NIET stands out among private engineering colleges for a few key reasons. Firstly, it's the only engineering college in Greater Noida recognized by major government bodies like NIRF, NBA, and NAAC with an A grade. This shows its quality and credibility.

NIET also has a good track record of students who have become IAS officers, like Sana Akhtar Siddiqui and Himanshu Tripathi. It's known for its strong focus on academics and placements, being one of the first to do so among private colleges.

The college introduced the Pyramid Finishing School for pre-placement training, which others later copied. Unlike many other institutes, NIET doesn't charge students for placement training, while others might ask for 10k to 20k.

When it comes to new technologies, NIET often leads the way, with initiatives like the Microsoft Innovation Centre and Mercedes training. Students get free, in-house training from top trainers to meet industry standards.

NIET also focuses on the overall development of students to match what industries need. They regularly hold motivational and career guidance seminars. Students can easily interact with the management to discuss their queries.

The faculty is top-notch, and there are regular industrial visits. The college even has an entrepreneurship cell, helping students start their own businesses successfully.

Top companies often prefer NIET for campus placements because the students are well-prepared, and the alumni have performed well in their careers.

Being a student at a private engineering college under UPTU can be pretty frustrating. NIET, in particular, doesn't give much attention to cultural activities or other talents beyond academics. Their main focus is helping you score well in university exams and securing a job, though the job might not meet your expectations and is often just for show. The administration isn't very supportive and tends to ignore student concerns.

Studying at NIET can be quite stressful. It's worth looking into other colleges instead of settling for NIET. The placement stats they boast about aren't very reliable, as I've mentioned regarding the actual quality of those placements. From my own experience, I wouldn't recommend choosing NIET.
