What is your review of JNTU College of Engineering Hyderabad?

I'm an alum of JNTU College of Engineering Hyderabad, and here's my honest take on the place.

As of February 2018, here are some positives I noticed:

• The entire campus is equipped with Wi-Fi, which is fantastic for e-learning. If you use it wisely, it can be really beneficial.
• The university, e-library, and college libraries have an extensive selection of books and e-magazines. They also offer resources for competitive exams, which is quite helpful.
• There's a centralized computer center that's open all day, every day, which I found incredibly useful.
• The labs get the job done.
• Campus placements are fairly decent.

Now, for some of the downsides: I chose this college because it's one of the best in the state, but a few things let me down.

• Most placements are in the software sector. If you're looking to work in fields like civil, mechanical, chemical, metallurgy, or electronics, you might struggle to find a job in your area through campus placements.
• There's no proper communication system like student emails. We live in a tech-savvy world, but beyond Wi-Fi, there isn't much innovation here. It feels quite outdated.
• The campus rules are quite strict. If you're anywhere near the girls' hostel, the security guards will yell at you as if you're breaking some major rule. It's surprising to see such strict regulations in a leading institute.
• I couldn't find an NPTEL local chapter or any push for smart learning. The internet mainly gets used for social media instead of educational purposes.
• There aren't any art clubs, dance groups, literary events, or NCC activities. Mostly, it's just small disputes between different departments.

Here's my honest take on JNTU College of Engineering Hyderabad. Many students seem to have a great time there, likely because they spend 4-5 years making memories with friends and enjoying themselves. It's a fantastic spot for fun with friends, offering a lot of freedom and almost no restrictions. One of the highlights is the Departmental fests. Unlike other colleges that have one big college fest, JNTU Hyd hosts multiple departmental fests. This creates a lively atmosphere with lots of events and chances to meet new people.

The college facilities are impressive. Transportation is excellent, making it easy to reach the campus with various options like the metro, buses, and MMTS. There are two libraries that you can make the most out of if you choose to. Plus, the campus has omnipresent wifi, letting you access high-speed internet for all your needs.

When it comes to career prospects, the scene is a bit mixed. While placements are decent, there aren't many opportunities in core fields. Even though the curriculum is updated every two years, it still feels very outdated. This is just a personal view, but sometimes students struggle to meet the skill requirements for certain jobs. During my time, two big electrical companies came for recruitment, but nobody from my class, including me, cleared the first round.

On projects, unless you're really committed, they don't offer much value. Even though professors sometimes offer extra classes to cover missed work due to mass bunks, it often doesn't help much, affecting academic performance. Proxy attendance is common but not in every class.

Ultimately, how you grow and succeed at JNTU Hyd is really up to you. You have the freedom to choose your path without being tied down by strict rules.

JNTU College of Engineering Hyderabad has quite a reputation, and not a good one. Many feel that the JNTU system, including its main and affiliated colleges, is just fooling the Telugu community and the wider Indian IT scene. They all provide the same kind of courses, but the main goal seems to be just passing exams without really understanding the material. If you can pass JNTU exams, it might not mean much in the real world. People often say the university is run by folks who care more about their titles than actual teaching or expertise. The professors, who are supposed to be guides, don't seem to have a strong grasp of the subjects or a vision for careers in science and technology. Many students end up in coding jobs not out of passion, but because they don't know what else to do.

There are over 400 colleges linked to JNTU, but you rarely hear about any major tech events or startups emerging from these institutions in Hyderabad. Even creating your own projects is tough since professors allegedly take a cut from local shops that churn out engineering projects. Sending your kids to JNTU might not be the best idea if you want to nurture their talent and ambition. The environment is often described as stifling and unpleasant, with students who aren't exactly the most motivated group around. If you're just looking to join the IT crowd without much direction, JNTU might be the place, but don't expect much more. Recently, JNTU was in the spotlight for failing a large percentage of its students, making it seem like passing their exams is tougher than some of the hardest challenges out there. Many hope for change, as the current setup seems to stifle creativity and progress.

I would say that my experience at JNTU Hyderabad for my B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering has been mostly positive. The curriculum is well-structured and includes hands-on projects that really help us understand real-world applications. Exams are held every semester, and while they can be challenging, they are manageable if you prepare well.

The faculty is supportive and approachable, which makes it easier to clarify doubts. Regarding placements, many companies visit our campus, and I’ve heard that the average package is around 8 LPA, which is encouraging. Overall, I think the college provides a good environment for both studies and personal growth.

Studying B.Tech in Civil Engineering at JNTU Hyderabad has been a rewarding journey. The curriculum is comprehensive, combining both theory and practical applications. We have mid exams and semester exams, and while the pressure can be high, it helps in keeping us on our toes.

The placement opportunities have also been decent, with many companies showing interest in hiring from our college. I've seen my seniors getting good packages, and I feel optimistic about my future here. The campus life is vibrant with various activities and festivals that really enhance the overall experience.
