Which is better, NMIMS Bangalore or NMIMS Mumbai?

CD
Chandril Dasgupta Posted On : February 7th, 2022
PGDM from NMIMS Hyderabad

Among NMIMS Bangalore and NMIMS Mumbai, the latter is the better option. Here are the reasons why.

  • It is older than NMIMS Bangalore. So it has a better alumni base and industry contacts.
  • It has a great faculty base and decent infrastructure. You will also get the opportunity to interact with industry experts.
  • NMIMS Mumbai has a 100% placement average. In the 2021 placement drive, the highest CTC offered to the students was 34 LPA.

What is the package offered to freshers in MBA from NMIMS Mumbai?

DC
Dheeraj Chabra Posted On : February 28th, 2023
MBA (Part Time) from SVKM's NMIMS (Graduated 2021)

My friend was an Engineering fresher student at NMIMS and was very satisfied with the placements of freshers at NMIMS.

Summer placements

During the summer placements freshers are most preferred by sales and marketing companies, especially FMCGs. Even big finance companies hire freshers. The students whether freshers or work experience are preferred on the basis of the individual requirements of the companies which keep changing. So the placement is proportionate and no distinction is made.

Final placements

The final placements take place in 2 stages. The lateral placements are for 24 months and then executive placements are for people having less than 2 years of experience.

Packages offered

During the summer placements, freshers are offered PPOs which are hefty packages. However, for Final Placements, companies do consider work experience and thus experienced ones tend to land better packages than freshers. But the entire scenario is quite unpredictable as I have seen freshers receive the highest package as well as the lowest package. Placements depend on your overall profile which includes your grades and your luck too!

Which university is better for economics: the Narsee Monjee (NMIMS) or the Ashoka University?

VT
Vaibhav Taneja Posted On : August 14th, 2020
B.A.(Hons) Economics & International Relations, Ashoka University (2020)

Ashoka University’s B.Sc Economics program offers a major in Economics and interdisciplinary majors in Economics and Finance, Economics & History, and in Politics, Philosophy and Economics(PPE). NMIMS offers Economics courses which include core subjects as well as subjects like Psychology, Sociology, Political Science, IT, etc.

Both the universities offer decent placement. Top recruiters at Ashoka University are 4 MC, Kenzie Banks, and other social sectors and the average package offered was around 6-7 LPA. In NMIMS 77% of the BSc Economics students got placement from 2016-19 batch with an average package of 4.6 LPA. Top recruiters in NMIMS are Ernst & Young, Deloitte, KPMG, PwC, etc. Ashoka University also offers good internship facilities and summer exchange programs.

Compared to NMIMS, Ashoka University facilities are much better. Most of the faculties of Ashoka University are alumni of Harvard, Stanford, Oxford, etc. The course fees for Economics for the first year at NMIMS is Rs 2.75 lakhs while at Ashoka University the course fee is Rs 8.18 Lakhs. Both the universities provide scholarship facilities to meritorious students and those who need financial aid.

Both Narsee Monjee (NMIMS) and Ashoka University offer decent Economics programs which makes it difficult to pick one university over the other. So, choose according to your convenience.

Is it worth doing an MBA from SIBM Pune, SCMHRD Pune or NMIMS Mumbai after 2 years of job experience in IT?

SB
Soutrik Bose Posted On : May 17th, 2021
MBA Marketing, Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, Pune

Yes, it’s worth it. In some cases, it is even essential to do an MBA after having 2 years of work experience in IT.

  • There are different kinds of people in IT sectors, some who like the technicalities of IT and some don't like that. People who like the technicalities of IT will settle in just a couple of years by learning to code brilliantly and achieve their goals.
  • Other people are just the opposite; they are always left feeling that they are missing something. MBA adds value to your resume and helps you to change your career.

I know a few people from SIBM Pane, so I can tell you about the MBA program offered by them.

  • My friends at the institute have peers who come with work experience in the IT sector and are going to be working in big FMCG brands in the summers.
  • SIBM Pune had an average CTC of around 20.14 LPA. The average internship stipend offered in the summer internship for 2018-20 was around 1.66 lacs for just two months and above 55% of students got offers for 1.5 lacs around. The highest stipend offered was 3 lacs.

Also, MBA can be a much-needed break for many with corporate careers. It’s a fun experience, you will get to learn a lot through many corporate interactions.

Which B School should I join amongst: IIM Udaipur, NMIMS or IIM Trichy?

SJ
Sidhharth Jain Posted On : January 21st, 2023
IIM Trichy

Recommendations on joining an IIM:

For individuals who come from top tier engineering colleges (such as IITs or BITs) and have a salary of more than INR 10 lakh per year in the tech sector:

  • It is not advisable to join any new IIMs unless you are looking to change your domain or are in a particularly difficult situation.
  • Do not expect to gain a lot of knowledge or make friends with similar backgrounds at new IIMs, as the student body tends to have mediocre backgrounds and may not be well-informed about industry trends.
  • Do not join a new IIM based on the media relations people who promote the institute on Quora, as they may not understand your level or expectations.

For individuals who are not from top colleges and have a salary of less than INR 5-6 lakh per year:

  • It may be beneficial to join a new IIM, as it could potentially improve your situation.
  • It is generally a good idea to join a new IIM without hesitation, as it may have a significant impact on your life.

For individuals who come from top tier engineering colleges and have made poor decisions in their lives:

  • It may be worth considering attending a new IIM if you are willing to endure two years of academic study in order to improve your career prospects.

For entrepreneurs or aspiring entrepreneurs:

  • Consider the return on investment before committing to a new IIM. It may not be worth incurring a debt of INR 16 lakh and spending two years with mediocre peers if it is not likely to lead to a good job and a successful career. It is important to carefully weigh the potential benefits and drawbacks before making a decision.

What is the value for part time PGDM in NMIMS Mumbai?

YS
Yasmeen S Posted On : February 28th, 2023
PGDM in Post Graduate Diploma in Management & Business Management, SVKM's NMIMS

Most part-time courses carry no real value other than adding the post-graduate tag. They have no worth in the corporate world irrespective of whichever reputed college you have chosen. NMIMS is one of the top reputed B Schools in India and has a big brand name.

  • The faculty is extremely talented and experienced
  • The placement scenario is pretty good except that part-time courses have no fixed statistics.
  • The fees are relatively high when compared to other B Schools of the same league
  • The curriculum is very rigorous and requires constant attendance and involvement. Being a part-time PGDM, you are probably a working professional and it becomes very difficult to balance work with studies.
  • The curriculum required you to submit assignments and give frequent exams. This might be difficult for working people.
  • Unfortunately there is quite a level of distinction between full-time PGDM students and part-time PGDM students as the former get the most attention from teachers.
  • The curriculum is rushed in order to get completed within 21 months imparting no real learning

I know a friend who chose NMIMS Executive MBA and paid hefty fees just for the brand name instead of doing the same course at a less popular B School. She regretted her decision and claimed the program to be a total waste of money and time. She said she could have done the same from another B School at half the cost. So part-time MBA itself is not that worthless, but paying a hefty sum merely for the brand name and postgraduate tag is illogical. You can do the same program at a much lesser cost than other B Schools.

Please give an honest review for the NMIMS Mumbai campus for the BTech program?

AS
Anubhuti Shekhar Posted On : March 9th, 2023
Graduate candidate at Thunderbird School of Global Management

If you attend this college, you'll find that it caters to an expensive, cushy, rich crowd. However, whether or not you actually learn anything will be up to you, as the classes can be quite lax. You'll need to maintain 805 attendance, which is compulsory.

On the bright side, the teachers are good and there are decent placement opportunities, especially when compared to other colleges. There are also various opportunities available, but keep in mind that money talks here, so be prepared to fend for yourself. The course itself is okay, much like most engineering colleges, but the labs and equipment are good and the infrastructure is solid.

Overall, if you choose to attend this college, you'll find that it's like any good engineering college with a higher fee. Just remember to stay focused and take advantage of the resources available to you. With hard work and dedication, you can succeed and thrive in this environment.
