The highest package for MCA in NIT Raipur over years has been given below –

I am a student of NIT Raipur. Unlike before, the state of infrastructure and facilities has tremendously improved in my college. I don’t know much about IIIT Naya Raipur, but I can definitely enlighten you about the state of NIT Raipur-
- NIT Raipur has a good hostel infrastructure. There is a dual mess and lift facility within the hostels. The rooms are well furnished and spacious. Other than that, there are badminton courts and table tennis facilities.
- The campus has a huge canteen.
- The labs are well equipped with instruments and devices. This allows the students to work on advanced projects.
- As for placements, NIT Raipur was always in a good condition. Because of its NIT tag, good companies visit the campus during placement season. At present, CSE/IT branches see a very good placement record. From core branches, Mechanical, Electrical and ECE perform well. Mining also has a good placement record.
- There is a virtual classroom where video conferencing sessions, Skype interviews, etc. are conducted.
- The college has its own committees like- Cultural, Technical, E-Cell, Literary, Robotics, IEEE SB, SAE, Green Committee, Mentor-ship club, etc.
- The crowd of NIT Raipur consists of qualified students.
- The students from this college go for internships and projects in IITs and foreign Universities, like University of Nebraska. Its students also actively participate in many national level competitions, both technical and non technical. In the past, its students have secured good positions in Intel Embedded Challenge and Tata Crucible Quiz.
Thus, NIT Raipur has made tremendous improvements in every parameter. You can definitely consider this college for your engineering studies.
Do all students get hostels at NIT Raipur?
All the students at NIT Raipur do not get hostels as the institute provides a limited residential facility for boys and girls. There are only 5 boys and 3 girls hostels within the campus.
- Hostel allocation is based on branch wise merit list. There is a cut-off score in each branch according to the total number of students and the number of accommodations available in the hostel.
- There is a reservation system. Aside from the merit list, the hostel allocation practice is also based on the category of students i.e General, SC, ST, OBC. A lot of deserving students don't get hostel accommodation.
This is a hostel allotment system for both Boys and Girls. Some of the students are day scholars while some do not favor staying in the hostel, but others are ready to stay in but do not get it.
I am getting mining engineering in NIT Raipur. Should I take it or drop a year?
NIT Raipur started with the Mining, Metallurgy, and Mechanical branches. These branches are highly regarded in the institute.
- An acquaintance of mine who is an NIT Raipur alumnus advises against dropping out. Even after dropping out a year, some students sadly do not live up to the expectations they had set for themselves.
- The best option in NIT Raipur is arguably mining. Some of the students of NIT Raipur prepared for the JEE to appear for a second time and they were able to score big.
I do agree with my friend that it will be better if you pursue your studies along with the preparation for JEE Main. This way you will have a sense of security and a contingency plan if things don’t turn out as planned.

Mining, Metallurgy and Mechanical are the oldest and best branches at NIT Raipur.
I can understand how motivated you feel right now. At this phase of your life, you must be confident that a year’s preparation will land you in a better place. Surely, this can happen with dedication and hardwork. However, many students fall into depression and anxiety a few months after taking a drop year. This affects their performance which can lead to lower scores in the second attempt.
I suggest you take admission into the Mining branch of NIT Raipur and prepare for your JEE Mains side by side. This will require time management and discipline from your side. But you’ll always have your ongoing degree to fall back to, in case things don’t work out. Rest assured that the Mining branch at NIT Raipur is a good option.
What is the total fee strucure at NIT Raipur for a btech 2017-2021 with a family income less than 1 lakh?
This rule has been in motion since 2016 and applies to students of both the OBC category and General. The rule did not apply to students who were from 2014 and 2015.
The fee structure for NIT Raipur and any other IIT according to MHRD are as follows:
- In case your family income is less than 1,00,000, you will get full remission of tuition fees. IIT tuition fees are around 2 lakhs now and the same for NITs is around 1.25 lakhs.
- If your family income is between 1 lakh to 5 lakhs, then you will have to pay a third of the fee of the IITs and NITs.
- Full tuition fees have to be paid in case the salary of the family is more than 5 lakhs.
- NITs have their own mess fees, hostel, and extra fees. They will amount roughly to 65,000 to 75,000 rupees.
Bank loans also help in gaining admission to the aforementioned colleges.
How is NIT Raipur for chemical engineering?
Chemical Engineering at NIT Raipur will definitely be a good choice. As far as facilities and other parameters are concerned, here’s what you should know.
Highlights:
- The department has well-equipped laboratories and classrooms.
- As far as faculty is concerned, all professors and teachers are well-experienced individuals. You will also have good industrial guidance as all of them have that kind of knowledge. If you are interested in research work, this is also being carried out by quite a few of the faculty. You will have good mentorship here.
- The institute is quite strict about attendance and academics.
- All the required software is available for the program, in the computer lab. They also have high internet speed there (around 75 Mbps).
- There is also an association of students and faculty that will help you socialize. It’s specifically for students from this department and known as the Chemical Engineering Association of NIT Raipur. They organize a number of events like seminars, departmental sports, and workshops.
- The department is also a student chapter of IIChE. This means it is a part of the Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers.
- Lab safety protocols are also followed in the lab with fire safety provisions in place.
Overall, this is a great place to pursue chemical engineering in. You should definitely go ahead.
Should I take production engineering at MNNIT Allahabad and try for a branch change or should I take CS in NIT Raipur?
There will be a handful of seats available for branch change and branch modifications do not only occur when you fill in a form. You will have other brilliant and ambitious students to compete with.

If you are facing trouble choosing the right branch, you should remember the following things.
- Don’t opt for a branch just because of the higher CTC, or college brand name, etc. Because the degree you will get is for life. So, make sure you are interested to work in the field that you are choosing.
- Also, go through the syllabus given on the official website and see if you can do the coursework for the branch of your choosing.
