Some of my friends studying at IIIT Allahabad mentioned that even though it is not a rule, there is still an unspoken pact that no one should disclose their placement details. At IIITA students are advised to not openly disclose their placement details which include the name of the company, the CTC and other important details about the job.

IIITA receives placement offers from a very diverse and significantly larger group of companies. The software and ITES sector have the highest volume of recruitment throughout these years. 

Since the institute hasn’t released the official placement statistics for the Final Placement of 2020, the following statistics have been observed until now:

Placements at IIIT are commendable as per the stats. If you have the talent and academic potential, you can secure a good placement offer from any reputed companies. A package of above 40 LPA is achievable if you are good in academics and if you can present yourself well during the placement interview.

There was a guy Tarun Agarwal of the Electronics Branch and a faculty, Shirshu Verma. I heard this story from a friend. According to him, no one knew what kind of bond these two people had. Looking at them together, nobody could distinguish who is the teacher and who is the student.

Tarun never attended Shirshu Sir’s classes but he had 100% attendance. Usually, some of the other students used to make a proxy for others. When nobody used to make a proxy of Tarun, then he used to mark his attendance. And this happened not once or twice but frequently. In fact not only attendance, but he also used to give him full marks in all his subjects. There might be some secret of Shirshu Sir that only Tarun knows. Most of the batch used to think so. 

There are endless proxy stories in engineering batches and every story is better than the other.

The most practical thing to do here would be to begin with taking a look at the syllabus of both these mentioned programs. You need to be absolutely clear about whether you wish to study for the next 4 years of your life and maybe also be able to develop a career in the same field. Interest and passion are mandatory to be able to sustain in any field of engineering for a very long period of time.

Now as far as my personal opinion goes, since two of my brothers have completed their engineering from IIIT Allahabad, I strongly believe that IIITA is a notch better than the others. Although the syllabus of CSE and IT is more or less the same, the overall academic environment of IIITA is better suited for coding when compared to the other NITs. There are a number of competitive programming websites available online where you will find more students of IIIT A placed at higher ranks than NITs.

There is a process of development, evolvement and growth as a programmer in IIITA for the students. It is known to all that India’s best coder Suryanarayana is also from IIIT A. Another reason why IIITA is a popular option for many aspiring coders is because unlike other colleges, it offers core subjects from the first years itself.

The placement scenario is also far accomplished of IIIT Allahabad.

Unlike many other premium engineering institutes, IIIT Allahabad offers a number of enriching experiences apart from the curriculum. There is a scope of exploring the writer inside you by becoming a part of the literary club and spending your time reading/writing. This has been one of the most successful and enriching ways to spend a weekend.

If your home is nearby, (Lucknow or Kanpur) you have a good chance of visiting home at the weekend. Moreover, there are a number of tournaments and championships also being continuously organized on campus to keep the students active and develop them holistically. There are coding competitions and championships organized too.

Taking a stroll during the nights inside the campus is a beauty of its own. It’s a massive campus with lots of trees which gives peace of mind specially needed for the weekends. You might also want to utilize your time to finish all your uncompleted assignments, projects and other academic related documents.

If you love traveling, you can plan a very nice trip to Varanasi from Allahabad.

The students usually associate the ragging scenario displayed in the movie with real life. IIIT Allahabad has never usually faced ragging from the first year. If you respect your seniors and stay decent with them, there is not any need for ragging. Enjoying the interaction time between juniors-seniors is also important. 

Ragging Culture:

• Seniors may ask to perform certain tasks to juniors like dancing and singing, but this is only for fun. There is a choice that you have to make here if you want to be ragged or not.
• Nothing will be harming you mentally or physically.
• Even if ragging practices are going on under the sheets, the college has an Anti-Ragging Committee. As per the records, fines are levied if some senior is caught involved in the ragging culture. The circular of 2009 by the institute states all the possible ways that will be termed as "ragging".

The institute has a good reputation. It is better to gel well with the seniors. They can help you with the placements and infrastructure. IIIT Allahabad is at par with the main campus. You can blindly include the name of the institute in the list of CSAB (Central Seat Allocation Board).
