What role do academics play for getting a call from SIBM, Pune and SCMHRD?
Past academics do not play as big of a role in getting a call from SIBM Pune and SCMHRD as you might think. The minimum eligibility criteria are having more than 50% (45% for caste) score in graduation. But it can still impact the overall selection process.
GE+PI+WAT call is based solely on the SNAP test percentile, but during the personal interview round, the panel may ask questions about the candidate's academic background, performance, and achievements. Therefore, having a good academic record can help in making a good impression and demonstrating one's overall capabilities and potential. Hence, candidates should focus on developing a well-rounded profile and showcasing their strengths during the selection process.
Which is the better option, SIBM Pune or SCMHRD?
In terms of ranking and brand value, SIBM Pune is better than SCMHRD. India Today 2021 has ranked SIBM Pune and SCMHRD 7th and 8th for MBA respectively. But rather than ranking and brand recognition, you should put more importance on the course you are going to pursue.
If you are planning on pursuing MBA Business Analytics, MBA HR, or MBA Infrastructure Management, then you should go for SCMHRD. For the Marketing specialization, both of these two are decent options.
Which one is better, MDI-HR or SCMHRD HR?
Both the colleges are pretty good if you choose to enroll in them. According to the IIRF rankings for 2022, MDI was ranked 2nd in the top 10 private management schools, while SCMHRD secured 6th rank. MDI also has a bigger alumni network.
The placements for the year for MDI-HR were 26.42 LPA and the median package is 25 LPA. During the same time frame, SCMHRD recorded an average salary of 23.71L and a median salary of 22 LPA.
Placements alone don’t determine if one college is better than the other.
Which is the better option, IRMA or SCMHRD?

How is life at SIBM/SCMHRD Pune?
Life at SIBM/SCMHRD- SIBM and SCMHRD Pune are the colleges that will train you to challenge yourself every day. You have to keep up with your classes, summer internships, council work, competitions, and other things outside of school.
But even though they have a lot to do, kids still find time to have fun. Every year, SIBM Pune hosts Transcend, which is by far one of India's biggest business school cultural events. Garba nights, the Colosseum, and Aarambh are all fun ways to spend time.SCMHRD hosts Shapath drives, Prayatna rock show, Finance conference, e-cell event, and NEEV Cultural fest.
The campuses are beautiful and the infrastructure is at par. Students feel comfortable in living.
What is the career growth and salary of SIBM Pune and SCMHRD alumni?
SIBM and SCMHRD are absolutely good universities for someone who has been above average academically and wishes to study in India's top 20 B-Schools.
If you measure a college's 'quality' largely by the average CTC granted during placements. In addition, aspects like curriculum, faculty member quality, infrastructure, and so on.
Every year, approximately 80-85k candidates apply for SNAP, of whom 2500-3000 are shortlisted for the GD-PI procedure, of which 400-500 are selected to study at these two colleges. For someone who’s an alumnus of these colleges, the brand value and name stays with them and that helps in career growth and salary.
How is my decision of joining SCMHRD, Pune this year? I am interested in pursuing HR and also taking a loan. Will the placements be at par to the previous years?
Not just this year, joining SCMHRD is a great decision in the near future for any stream and for HR it is even better.

So, as you can see the RoI is good enough so you can go for the loan as well, but go for a loan from a government bank.
Is it wise to leave an SBI PO job for an MBA from SCMHRD?
It is entirely dependent on your job goals. Without assessing the benefits and drawbacks as well as your priorities, no decision may be wise or foolish.
Advantages of becoming an SBI PO:
- CTC of around 11 lakhs in Mumbai, and 8.5 lakhs in rural/semi-urban areas.
- Job safety.
- Posting in your neighborhood.
- There are numerous options to work in diverse roles such as Treasury, International Banking, and international postings.
Cons of working as an SBI PO:
- Two years of probation. You will be in training during this period and will not be assigned a role until you are confirmed. So, even after two years of experience, you don't have anything to show.
- For at least three years after joining, rural/semi-urban postings are required.
- Branch offices are overcrowded, and employees have few workplace amenities.
Advantages of pursuing an MBA:
- A fantastic chance for lifelong learning.
- You can create a fantastic network of like-minded experts.
- A career change in the direction you desire to take your career.
- CTC of nearly 13 lakhs (SCMHRD average).
- There is no job security, but there are opportunities for advancement.
Cons of pursuing an MBA:
- The cost of education debt.
- Cost of opportunity.
It is up to you to decide whether it is a sensible move to leave your SBI PO job for an MBA from SCMHRD based on your priorities. You might even try this career while continuing to prepare for a better college or a 1-year MBA school if you are eligible to reduce opportunity costs.
Is SCMHRD HR programme as good as XLRI HRM in terms of brand value?
No, the XLRI HRM program is one of the oldest and most respected HRM courses in Asia, which gives it a higher brand value than the SCMHRD HR program. However, going to a prestigious B-school is not the only factor that determines success as an HR professional. What matters is how good someone is at their work over the years. There are many well-respected HR heads from SCMHRD, and I've personally encountered multiple SCMHRD alumni who are brilliant.
How is SCMHRD for MBA in HR?
SCMHRD is one of the best B-Schools in India for specialzied HR program. It’s probably among the best colleges after XLRI, and we have good enough industry stalwarts from SCMHRD to back this up.
